Forward (Turn Album)
''Forward'' was the second album from Turn, a Meath-based indie rock band. Their first album had seen a large interest from Ireland and the UK but it seemed to die away as quickly as it rose due to poor marketing and promotion from Infectious Records. The band were dropped from Infectious Records and created Nurture Records in order to release music. After this, the band struggled to finance and produce 2001's '' In Position EP'', but the EP managed to secure a loyal fan base in Ireland and constant touring helped the band get back on their feet and start recording ''Forward'' in 2002. However, tragedy again struck the band when original bass player Gavin Fox left to join Idlewild. The album was finished in early 2003 and released to rave reviews and strong sales, entering the Irish charts at No. 8. Turn are an Irish band. History Turn formed in 1998 when lead singer/guitarist Ollie Cole and drummer Ian Melady joined forces with Dublin bass player Gavin Fox, whom they met at a local recording studio. Cole and Melady had been friends since youth and had previously formed Pixies-influenced punk band ''Swampshack''. Through frantic gigging and the release of a few choice 7" singles, Turn started to earn a name for themselves and soon found themselves signed to Infectious Records. Their debut album, ''Antisocial'', soon followed and Turn looked to be on their way to stardom. Infectious, however, were not too interested in releasing any singles from the album and Turn soon found themselves in record company limbo once again. With their schedule clear, Turn hit the road again playing gigs to get funds for more recording. The ''In Position EP'' was the fruit of these labours, a six track snapshot on their own ''Nurture'' label in March 2002 which was a taster of what was to come. ... Abbey Road Studios (formerly EMI Recording Studios) is a recording studio at 3 Abbey Road, St John's Wood, City of Westminster, London, England. It was established in November 1931 by the Gramophone Company, a predecessor of British music company EMI, which owned it until Universal Music Group (UMG) took control of part of it in 2013. In Position EP
''In Position'' is a six track EP recorded by Irish band Turn in 2001. It was recorded by the band without any record company involvement after they left Infectious Records in 2000. ''In Position'' the song would later be re-recorded and appear on Turn's second full-length album, Forward (Turn album). The EP was a massive success for the band, securing them a strong following throughout Ireland and giving Turn two of their strongest songs, ''In Position'' and ''Heartattack''. However, shortly after the tour that followed the EP's release, original bass player, Gavin Fox left the group to join Scottish Rockers Idlewild. Skindive
Skindive was an Irish electronic rock band formed in the late 1990s in Dublin. The band incorporated electronic sounds into often harsh and atmospheric music and comparisons were often drawn to the band Garbage because of the juxtaposition of heavily distorted guitars and clean female vocals. Formation ''Skindive'' was formed in 1999 by Gerry Owens. Owens had previously been living in London playing with a series of groups which met with little or no success. Once returning to Dublin, Owens began working on writing his own music which eventually formed into the creation of the band. Owens found his bassist (Alan Lee) and drummer (Ger Farrell) during the first four months of recruiting but found it tougher to pick the right voice to go with his music and lyrics. ''Antisocial'' is the first full-length album released by Turn, an Irish rock trio from Kells, County Meath. Turn began recording the album around 1998 and one of the tracks ("Beretta") appeared on the ''Check My Ears'' EP, which the band released in 2000. The album was released on Infectious Records in 2000 to favourable reviews in both the Irish and British press. Constant touring before and after its release gained the band a wide Irish and UK fan base and they played a host of sell-out shows across the two countries.
