Fort Cavazos
Fort Cavazos is a United States Army Military installation, post located near Killeen, Texas. The post is named after Gen. Richard E. Cavazos, a native Texan and the US Army’s first Hispanic four-star general. Formerly named Fort Hood for Confederate States of America, Confederate General John Bell Hood, the post is located halfway between Austin, Texas, Austin and Waco, Texas, Waco, about from each, within the U.S. state of Texas. The post is the headquarters of III Armored Corps and First Army Division West and is home to the 1st Cavalry Division (United States), 1st Cavalry Division and 3rd Cavalry Regiment (United States), 3rd Cavalry Regiment, among others. The 504th Military Intelligence Brigade (504th MIB) is located at Fort Hood, Texas. 3rd Security Force Assistance Brigade
The 3rd Security Force Assistance Brigade (3rd SFAB) is a Security force assistance brigade of the United States Army. It is based in Fort Hood, Texas. Security Force Assistance Brigades SFABs are brigades whose mission is to train, advise, and assist other states' armed forces. Operationally, an 800-soldier SFAB would free-up a 4,500-soldier Brigade Combat Team from a training and advisory mission. On 23 June 2016 General Mark Milley revealed plans for train/advise/assist Brigades, consisting of seasoned officers and NCOs with a full chain of command, but no junior Soldiers. The 11th Corps Signal Brigade ("Desert Thunderbirds") of the United States Army is an element of Army Forces Command. It is based at Fort Hood, Texas.
