Formula Enterprises
Formula SCCA or Formula Enterprises is a class of open wheel race car sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America. A spec racing class, all chassis are produced by SCCA Enterprises in association with Van Diemen and include a sealed Mazda MZR powerplant. The chassis can also be fitted with closed-wheel bodywork and converted into a sportscar to race in C Sports Racer or the L3 class of IMSA Prototype Lites. For the 2012 season, the car was also accepted into the U.S. F2000 National Championship's National Class. According to the manufacturer's website, as of March 2010, 120 of the cars have been sold. SCCA Enterprises also produces the Spec Racer Ford chassis. History The SCCA Enterprises introduced the formula and sports racer in 2002. Scott Rettich (born September 7, 1984, in Dayton, Ohio, deceased April 12, 2022) was an Americans, American racing driver, competing in such disciplines as the U.S. F2000 National Championship in the National class. Career history Karting Scott Rettich started karting in 1996. Between 1998 and 2004 Scott Rettich entered the Ohio Valley Karting Club championship collecting 5 titles in various classes. Throughout his karting career Scott entered the World Karting Association, WKA Manufacturer's Cup and Gold Cup. Scott Rettich won 5 championships, 4 in the Gold Cup and 1 in the Manufacturer's Cup. Formula Atlantic
Formula Atlantic is a specification of open-wheel racing car developed in the 1970s. It was used in professional racing through the IMSA Atlantic Championship until 2009 and is currently primarily used in amateur racing through Sports Car Club of America Formula Atlantic. History The history of Formula Atlantic begins with the SCCA Formula B class, created in 1965 for single-seat formula cars with engines not exceeding 1600cc in capacity. An overhead camshaft (OHC) engine is a piston engine where the camshaft is located in the cylinder head above the combustion chamber. This contrasts with earlier overhead valve engines (OHV), where the camshaft is located below the combustion chamber in the engine block. Valvetrain
A valvetrain or valve train is a mechanical system that controls the operation of the intake and exhaust valves in an internal combustion engine. The intake valves control the flow of air/fuel mixture (or air alone for direct-injected engines) into the combustion chamber, while the exhaust valves control the flow of spent exhaust gasses out of the combustion chamber once combustion is completed. Layout The valvetrain layout is largely dependent on the location of the camshaft. Mazda MZR
MZR is the brand name of a generation of Inline-four engines engineered and built by the Mazda Motor Corporation from 2001 to the present. MZR stands for "MaZda Responsive". The MZR generation includes gasoline and diesel powered engines ranging in displacements from 1.3L to 2.5L. All gasoline-powered MZR engines feature an all-aluminum block construction with iron cylinder liners. The diesel MZR-CD engines use a cast-iron block (virtually identical to the Mazda F engine) and an aluminum cylinder head. Henrik Furuseth
Henrik Furuseth (Eidsvoll April 24, 1996) is a Norwegian racing driver. He won the U.S. F2000 National Championship in the National Class in 2012. Racing career Henrik started karting when he was 6 years old. He raced his way through the ranks until 2010. In 2010 he made his formula racing debut in the Norwegian Formula Basic. He was ranked third in the championship in his Ford powered Van Diemen. In his second season in Formula Basic he not only won the Norwegian championship but also the Norwegian cup. In 2012 he made his debut in American autosport in the U.S. F2000 National Championship. Formula Continental is a single seater, open wheel racing class in motorsport. It replaced Formula C as an SCCA racing class. Most Formula Continental's are Formula Ford 2000 (FF2000) models, which is a flat bottomed, steel tube frame open wheel car with smaller wings and a 2-litre engine derived from the steel blocked Ford Pinto, Ford Zetec, or Mazda MZR engines. The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) is a North American sports car racing sanctioning body based in Daytona Beach, Florida under the jurisdiction of the ACCUS arm of the FIA.
