Forden United Football Club is a Welsh football team based in Forden, a village near Welshpool in Powys, Wales. The team currently play in the Mid Wales Football League East Division Central Wales League Northern Division, which is at the fourth tier of the Welsh football league system. History A club from the village was reported by ''The Montgomeryshire Express'' in their first ever match, a 1–0 win against Leighton Swifts in January 1897. The club continued to compete under the name of ''Forden Unity'' with friendly matches against the Swifts along with Montgomery, Berriew and Marton around the end of the 19th century. During the early part of the 20th century the club disappeared and then entered the Montgomeryshire League for the first time in 1955, winning titles in 1963 and 1965. Forden ( cy, Ffordun) is a village near Welshpool in Powys, Wales, formerly in the historic county of Montgomeryshire. It forms part of the community (and community council) of Forden, Leighton and Trelystan with the neighbouring settlements of Trelystan, Leighton and Kingswood. Welshpool ( cy, Y Trallwng) is a market town and community in Powys, Wales, historically in the county of Montgomeryshire.
