Ford Hot Shots
The Ford Hot Shots was the annual skills competition preceding both the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and the Tim Hortons Brier, Canada's women's and men's national curling championships respectively. The competition has not been held since 2018. History When Ford became a sponsor of the World Curling Championships in 1995, it also began a tradition of a skills competition preceding Canada's national championships. The change in competition format for the 2018 Tournament of Hearts and 2018 Brier led to a change in format for the Hot Shots. Fifteen teams would compete instead of individual curlers, with the winning team being awarded a cheque for $15,000 and one of four Hot Shots spectators winning the two-year lease on the Ford vehicle. The three finalist spectators would each receive $500 to donate to the charities of their choice. Skills Competition
Skills competitions refer to special exhibition contests that take place during all-star games or other special events in professional sports. Generally, they are held the day before the all-star games. These events seem to serve at least two purposes: the first is to establish bragging rights between athletes for possessing a particular skill needed to succeed in a sport, and the second is to increase ticket and television revenue for the leagues that sponsor the event. Skills contests are often the only events for which tickets are available during an all-star period, because tickets for the games themselves are sold out. Ford F-150
The Ford F-Series is a series of light-duty trucks marketed and manufactured by Ford since the 1948 model year. Slotted above the Ford Ranger in the Ford truck model range, the F-Series is marketed as a range of full-sized pickup trucks. Alongside the F-150 (introduced in 1975), the F-Series also includes the Super Duty series (introduced in 1999), which includes the heavier-duty F-250 through F-450 pickups, F-450/F-550 chassis cabs, and F-600/F-650/F-750 Class 6-8 commercial trucks. Rick Perron
Richard Perron (born June 12, 1957) is a Canadian curler from Moncton, New Brunswick. He won a silver medal at the 2000 Labatt Brier as second for Russ Howard. Career Perron won his first New Brunswick Tankard in 1991. He was second on the team skipped by Gary Mitchell. They represented New Brunswick at the 1991 Labatt Brier in Hamilton, Ontario where they had a 4–7 record. He would win his second tankard in 1996 as lead for Mike Kennedy. He bettered his previous record by going 5–6 at the 1996 Labatt Brier in Kamloops, British Columbia. Perron finished second in the stats for leads. Perron joined Russ Howard's team as second in 1998 with Wayne Tallon at third and Grant Odishaw as lead. They would win the provincial championship in back to back years in 1999 and 2000. Ed Werenich
Edward Werenich (born June 23, 1947) is a Canadian curler from Holland Landing, Ontario. Nicknamed "The Wrench," Werenich has been known to be a colourful and outspoken character. Outside of curling, Werenich worked as a firefighter. Career Werenich was born and raised in the town of Benito, Manitoba but moved to Toronto after finishing high school. He began curling at age ten. In 1972, Werenich joined Paul Savage's team as his second. The following year they would play in their first Brier. They would return again in 1974 and then in 1977 with Werenich as Savage's third. Without a championship, Werenich skipped his own team to the Brier in 1981, but still could not win. In 1983 Savage joined Werenich as his third and they would go on to win the Brier title that year over Ed Lukowich of Alberta. The Ford Edge is a range of crossover SUVs manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. The Ford Freestyle is a crossover utility vehicle that was sold by Ford from 2005 to 2009. Largely marketed as the successor to the Ford Taurus station wagon, the Freestyle was the CUV counterpart of the Ford Five Hundred and Mercury Montego four-door sedans. Ford Escape
The Ford Escape is a compact crossover SUV sold by Ford since 2000 over four generations. The first generation was jointly developed with Mazda which also created the Mazda Tribute and Mercury Mariner as the twin model. Second generations of the Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, and Mazda Tribute were released in 2007 for the 2008 model year, but mostly restricted to North America.
