Football In Montserrat
The sport of association football in the island of Montserrat is run by the Montserrat Football Association. The association administers the national football team, as well as the national football league. They are one of the few remaining FIFA members that have never had proven women's football. Financial reports for 2020 mention expenditures for women's football initiatives and domestic competition though, so it is possible that limited activity has been starting. The sport is thought to have been introduced in the late 1960's/early 1970's with the league forming in 1974, but actual historical evidence is limited. The eruption of the Soufrière Hills volcano interrupted league football in 1995, with the subsquent emigration of a significant proportion of the populace and establishment of an exclusion zone over much of the island removing any chance of consistent football. Ideal SC
Ideal Sports Club is a Montserrat sports club based in Brades. Ideal SC is best known for their football team, who plays in the Montserrat Championship the highest tier of football on the island. The football club won the championship once in 2004. History Ideal was founded in Brades, Montserrat in 1975. The first record of them competing in national football was in 1996-97 Montserrat Championship, known as the Carib Football League for sponsorship reasons, under the name Ideal Boys. Only one result is recorded, a 4–3 victory over the Seventh Day Adventists Trendsetters, before the season was cancelled when the Soufrière Hills erupted causing widespread devastation to the island. 2019–20 CONCACAF Nations League B
The 2019–20 CONCACAF Nations League B was the second division of the 2019–20 edition of the CONCACAF Nations League, the inaugural season of the international football competition involving the men's national teams of the 41 member associations of CONCACAF. Format League B consisted of sixteen teams from qualifying which finished from 7th to 22nd. The league was split into four groups of four teams. The teams competed in a home-and-away, round-robin format over the course of the group phase, with matches played in the official FIFA match windows in September, October and November 2019. The four group winners were promoted to League A, while the four last-placed teams in each group were relegated to League C for the next edition of the tournament. In September 2019, it was announced that the Nations League would also provide qualification for the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup. 2012 Caribbean Championship Qualification
A total of 25 teams entered the qualification process for the 2012 Caribbean Cup, competing for a total of 8 spots in the final tournament. Jamaica national football team, Jamaica, as the holders, and Antigua and Barbuda, as hosts, qualified automatically, leaving 6 spots open for competition. Although the qualifying tournament is also part of 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifying process, the tournament has not been included by FIFA on the FIFA International Match Calendar meaning that the participating nations' first choice players may not be available to play due to club commitments. 1991 Caribbean Cup
The 1991 Caribbean Cup (known as the Shell Caribbean Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the third edition of the Caribbean Cup, the football championship of the Caribbean, one of the CONCACAF zones. The final round of the competition was held from the 24 May to 2 June and saw six teams qualifying through to the final round where they joined defending champions Trinidad and Tobago and hosts Jamaica. The eight teams (seven after Cuba withdrew from the competition) were separated into two groups of four with the top two teams from each group qualifying through to the knockout stage where the semi-finals winners qualifying through to the Gold Cup which was held four weeks after the Caribbean tournament. In the final, Jamaica defeated Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 with goals from Paul Davis and Winston Anglin securing Jamaica's first title as they qualified to the Gold Cup with Trinidad and Tobago.
