Fondo Egone Missio Archives
The Fondo Egone Missio (Egone Missio Archives) contains thousands of documents and photographs from 1909 to 1967 relevant to the design and construction of passenger ships, from the original drawings of Monfalcone yard no. 1 (the steamship ''Trieste'' of 1909) to all the reference papers of the design and construction of Home Lines SS Oceanic (1965). The archive is headquartered in Via Rosselli 20, 34074 Monfalcone, Italy. It was created in 2004 by Mrs. Edda Missio, daughter to the ship designer Mr. Egone Missio of Monfalcone, who entered the local shipyard a few months after its foundation, on 11 January 1909 as apprentice carpenter. He became the chief of the passenger design office in 1943, and he worked there until 1967. Missio kept a day-by-day business diary from 1952 to 1967, in which details of his career and of the ships he designed can be found, including details of all the meetings between the parties involved in the conception and design of the SS Oceanic. Passenger Ship
A passenger ship is a merchant ship whose primary function is to carry passengers on the sea. The category does not include cargo vessels which have accommodations for limited numbers of passengers, such as the ubiquitous twelve-passenger freighters once common on the seas in which the transport of passengers is secondary to the carriage of freight. The type does however include many classes of ships designed to transport substantial numbers of passengers as well as freight. Home Lines
Home Lines was an Italian passenger shipping company that operated both ocean liners and cruise ships. The company was founded in 1946, and it ceased operations in 1988 when merged into Holland America Line. Although based in Genoa, Home Lines was an international company with ships registered in Panama, while the original company chairman Eugen Eugenides was Greek. By the time Home Lines was merged into Holland America, they were one of the most highly regarded cruise lines in the world. Home Lines were connected to Cosulich Lines, Swedish American Line and Hamburg-America Line. Eugen Eugenides' adopted son Nicolaos Vernicos-Eugenides cofounded the Hamburg Atlantic Line in 1958, and he later served as the CEO of both Home Lines and Hamburg Atlantic Line. SS Oceanic (1965)
SS ''Oceanic'' was a cruise ship built in 1963 by Cantieri Riuniti dell' Adriatico, Monfalcone, Italy for Home Lines. Between 1985 and 2000, she sailed for Premier Cruise Line under the names ''Starship Oceanic'' and ''Big Red Boat I'', before being sold to Pullmantur Cruises and reverting to her original name. In 2009 was sold to a new owner-operator, Peace Boat, which kept her until 2012. She was broken up in China later that year. Concept and construction ''Oceanic'' was the first newbuilt ship ordered by Home Lines. She was ordered from the Cantieri Riuniti dell' Adriatico shipyard at Monfalcone, Italy. Monfalcone

MS Giulio Cesare
MS ''Giulio Cesare'' was a luxurious ocean liner built for the Italian Line. She was a sister ship to MS ''Augustus'' which was launched in the same year. She was built for the South America service like her sister. These two ships' specification and design were very similar. During World War II, the Italian Line had lost a large portion of its fleet, including the ocean liner . The surviving ships were refitted and repaired, and returned to passenger service after the war was over.
