Floyd Lamb
Floyd Roland Lamb (September 3, 1914 – June 2, 2002) was an American politician and a Democratic member of the Nevada Senate from 1956 to 1983. From 1946 to 1956, Lamb joined the Lincoln County Commission until he was elected to the senate. In 1956, Lamb represented Lincoln County and in 1965 Lamb moved to Las Vegas where he represented Clark County and served as Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee until 1983. Legacy In 1977, Lamb convinced the Nevada Legislature to acquire Tule Springs Park from the then financially troubled city of Las Vegas and the park was later renamed Floyd Lamb Park. Also, Lamb Boulevard in Las Vegas is named after him and/or his brother, Ralph Lamb, a former Clark County Sheriff who served from 1961 to 1979. Alamo, Nevada
Alamo is an unincorporated town in Lincoln County, Nevada, United States, about north of Las Vegas along U.S. Route 93. Its elevation is . As of the 2010 census it had a population of 1,080. History A post office has been in operation at Alamo since 1905. The community was named in commemoration of the Battle of the Alamo. A large share of the first settlers were Mormons. Alamo banned alcohol sales due to the religious roots and principles of the settlers. Many of the residents are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and their faith "preaches abstinence from alcohol". In 2022, the town board proposed allowing alcohol sales in gas stations and supermarkets but continue to restrict bars. Geography Alamo lies in the Pahranagat Valley. Its economy is dependent primarily upon ranching. The closest attraction is the Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge. Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs is a park in Las Vegas, Nevada. The park is centered on Tule Springs, a series of small lakes that formed an oasis in this part of the Mojave Desert. One of the larger urban retreats in the Las Vegas Valley, Tule Springs was once considered to be far out of town but is now encroached by development. The park includes the Tule Springs Ranch, Tule Springs Archaeological Site, Tule Springs Wash and four ponds available for fishing.
