Flintshire Falcons
Flintshire Falcons Rugby League Club is a rugby league team from the county of Flintshire, North Wales. They presently play in the Wales Rugby League North Wales Championship. Flintshire Falcons Rugby League Club are a members-run club. They are based at Deeside Leisure Centre, Queensferry, Flintshire. There are currently over 40 playing and non-playing members varying in all ages. The club consists of a varied background of individuals, from school children and university students, through to business owners and volunteers. History In 2012, ''Flintshire Falcons'' joined the inaugural North Wales Conference mid-season after Montgomeryshire Marauders folded. Founded by current Chairman Mark Parry and Treasurer Mike Roberts with players mainly drawn from union clubs throughout Flintshire. Deeside Leisure Centre
Deeside Leisure Centre is a sports centre located in Queensferry, Flintshire. Its facilities include Deeside Ice Rink (an Olympic-sized inline hockey rink), badminton courts, and squash courts. The centre was the venue for the 1974 Wightman Cup match. The ice rink is the National Centre for Ice Sports in Wales and is home to the Deeside Dragons, thFlintshire Phantomsand the Deeside Demons ice hockey teams. It was used as a temporary home by the Manchester Phoenix during the 2006–07 EIHL season while the Altrincham Ice Dome was being constructed. The Phoenix moved back to Deeside for the 2015/16 Season after they were evicted from Altrincham by the rink's owners. There has also been a new indoor skate park and gym added to the Leisure Centre. History The Rugby League Conference was founded in 1997 as the ''Southern Conference'', a 10-team pilot league for teams in the South of England and English Midlands. It expanded into North Wales for the first time in 2004 when North Wales Coasters joined the North West Division of the Rugby League Conference. The professional side Crusaders announced in December 2009 that they would leave the South Wales town of Bridgend an relocate to Wrexham in North Wales. Wales Rugby League is the national governing body for rugby league football in Wales. In 1907 The Welsh Northern Rugby Football Union was formed in Wrexham, but the English Northern Rugby Football Union refused it affiliation as they wanted the body located in the south of Wales and the Welsh body soon folded. In 1926 the English body, now called the Rugby Football League (RFL) formed a Welsh commission in an attempt to convert rugby union clubs to rugby league. The Wales Rugby League achieved governing body status in 2005 and employed its first professional chairman, Mark Rowley, in 2006. The WRL is responsible for the running of the game in Wales, for organising games and competitions and for selecting the squad for the national teams. Conwy Celts
Conwy Celts are a rugby league team based in Colwyn Bay. They play in the North Wales Conference. History ''Conwy Celts'' were formed in 2007. They joined the newly formed North Wales Conference in 2012 finishing second in the table. Conwy Celts beat top-of-the-table Prestatyn and Rhyl Panthers 48-26 in the grand final to be crowned the first ever North Wales Champions. Conwy Celts started off the 2013 season by winning the North Wales 9s by defeating Flintshire Falcons in the final. They finished top of the league. Conwy Celts then went on to win the North Wales Conference Challenge Cup for second year in succession by beating Flintshire Falcons by 50 - 30 in the final played at CBRFC on 21 August 2013.
