Grete Frische
Grete Frische (15 June 1911 – 17 August 1962) was a Danish actress, screenwriter and director. The daughter of a playwright, Frische is best known for her screenplays, especially the war drama '' Støt står den danske sømand'' (English: '' The Viking Watch of the Danish Seaman'') which received the 1949 Bodil Award for Best Danish Film. During a short career of less than 24 years, Frische wrote 22 produced screenplays including five of the popular ''Far til Fire'' (English: ''Father of Four'') family comedies and two adaptations of Morten Korch novels. Early life Frische was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, the daughter of the actor and playwright Axel Frische and Christine Jørgine Christensen. Alice O'Fredericks
Alice O'Fredericks (born Mitzi Otha Alice Frederiksen; 8 September 1899 – 18 February 1968) was a Danish actress, screenwriter, and film director. She is best known for directing the series of ''Far til Fire'' (''Father of Four'') comedies and the series of family dramas based on Morten Korch novels. Having written 38 produced screenplays and directed 72 feature films, O'Fredericks was one of the most prolific directors in Danish cinema. O'Fredericks also directed the first Danish films which highlighted women's rights. The Alice Award, presented annually to the Best Female Director at the Copenhagen International Film Festival, is named in her honor. Astrid Villaume (3 November 1923 – 12 February 1995) was a Danish actress of stage and film best known for her Bodil Award-winning title role in the 1950 film ''Susanne''. Danish film historian Morten Piil described Villaume's appeal as a combination of "warm mother figure, romantic heroine and innocent erotic dream girl." Tove Maës
Tove Maës (30 April 192131 December 2010) was a Danish actress of stage, television and film best known for her starring roles in the series of "Morten Korch" films, in particular '' The Red Horses''. Maës was a three-time recipient of the Bodil Award for Best Actress, winning in 1954, 1971, and 1983. Career Maës was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on 30 April 1921. She studied with the Danish actor Albert Luther and, in 1942, was "discovered" by Theater Director Helge Rungwald who employed Maës at the Odense Theater. Shortly thereafter, Maës played the lead in Selma Lagerlöf's ''Dunungen''. Maës sought an apprenticeship at the Royal Danish Theatre after appearing there in Carl Erik Soya's ''Natteherberget'', but was turned down. Instead, she worked at the Riddersalen theater, performing in a series of roles. Morten Korch
Morten Luther Gudmund Korch (1876–1954) was a Danish writer who wrote populist stories and romances about rural Denmark. During his lifetime, he was the most widely read author in Denmark. Korch wrote 123 novels, several of which were made into popular films. In 1937, Korch was awarded a Danish knighthood in the Order of Dannebrog.
