Flieger V Lawrence
West Germany (performing under the banner Germany) was present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1989, held in Lausanne, Switzerland. This year marked the last Contest in which participation and televoting were only open to residents of West Germany. The winning entry was "Flieger", performed by Nino de Angelo and composed by Dieter Bohlen with lyrics by Joachim Horn-Bernges. Nino De Angelo
Domenico Gerhard Gorgoglione (born 18 December 1963), known professionally as Nino de Angelo, is a German singer of Italian descent known for his 1983 chart-topper " Jenseits von Eden", and who participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 with the song, " Flieger", written by Dieter Bohlen and Joachim Horn-Bernges. He had a minor hit in 1984 in the UK Singles Chart with "Guardian Angel". Originally the song was recorded in German and written by Drafi Deutscher. Titled "Jenseits von Eden", it remained number one for ten weeks on the German chart in 1983, while an Italian version was number one in France for five weeks. He collaborated with German band Mr. President, performing a song called "Olympic Dreams" from their "We See the Same Sun" album. Ralph Siegel (born 30 September 1945) is a German record producer and songwriter. Siegel is one of the most notable figures at the Eurovision Song Contest, in which he has participated with 24 songs so far, among them the 1982 winner song Ein bisschen Frieden. Life and career Siegel is a prolific producer in the German genre of Schlager music. Since the early 1970s, he worked with artists like Udo Jürgens, Mary Roos, Heino, Rex Gildo, Michael Holm, Chris Roberts, Costa Cordalis, Mireille Mathieu, Peter Alexander, Roy Black, Karel Gott and Marianne Rosenberg. Since 1972 has participated with 24 songs in the Eurovision Song Contest, the latest being the 2017 Sammarinese entry "Spirit of the Night" by Valentina Monetta and Jimmie Wilson. Hans Peter Wilhelm "Hape" Kerkeling (; born 9 December 1964) is a German comedian, TV presenter, author, and actor.
