''Flicts'' is a picture book written and illustrated by Brazilian author Ziraldo. The first children's book by the author, published in 1969, it tells the story of a color known as Flicts, that does not seem to fit anywhere on planet Earth alongside the other colors. Background According to Ziraldo's daughter, Daniela Thomas, the book was conceived when the author, in search of help to publish his comic ''Jeremias, o Bom'', approached editor Fernando de Castro Ferro, who asked Ziraldo if he instead had a children's book ready to be published. He lied and said yes, and spent the next two days designing what would become ''Flicts''. Ziraldo
Ziraldo Alves Pinto (October 24, 1932 – April 6, 2024), known mononymously as Ziraldo, was a Brazilian author, cartoonist, painter, comics creator, and journalist. Ziraldo began his career as a cartoonist in the 1950s, working for several Brazilian magazines and newspapers. His unique style and humorous take on everyday life quickly garnered a significant following. His books have sold about ten million copies, have been translated to many foreign languages and adapted to the theater and cinema. His children's books, such as the popular '' O Menino Maluquinho'' (The Nutty Boy), have also been the basis of successful films and television series in Brazil, following its original publishing in 1980. Picture Book
A picture book combines visual and verbal narratives in a book format, most often aimed at young children. Daniela Thomas (born 1959) is a Brazilian film director, screenwriter and editor. Early life In 1959, Thomas was born as Daniela Gontijo Alves Pinto in Brazil. Thomas' father is Ziraldo Alves Pinto, a cartoonist. Thomas' brother is Antonio Pinto. Career In 1994, Thomas co-directed her first feature film, '' Terra Estrangeira'' aka Foreign Land, alongside Walter Salles. Thomas is also its screenwriter and production designer. Pedro Bandeira de Luna Filho (born March 9, 1942) is a Brazilian award-winning and best-selling children's novelist and poet, best known as the author of the ''Os Karas'' hexalogy of mystery novels which comprise '' A Droga da Obediência'' (1984), ''Pântano de Sangue'' (1987), ''Anjo da Morte'' (1988), '' A Droga do Amor'' (1994), ''Droga de Americana!'' Carlos Drummond De Andrade
Carlos Drummond de Andrade () (October 31, 1902 – August 17, 1987) was a Brazilian poet and writer, considered by some as the greatest Brazilian poet of all time. He has become something of a national cultural symbol in Brazil, where his widely influential poem "Canção Amiga" ("Friendly Song") has been featured on the 50- cruzado novo bill.
