Fleur Maxwell
Fleur Maxwell (born 5 August 1988) is a Luxembourgian former figure skater. She has won nine senior international medals. She reached the free skate at the 2006 Winter Olympics and at six ISU Championships, achieving her highest result, 14th, at the 2005 European Championships. Career Maxwell started skating at the age of nine. She debuted on the junior international level in the 2002–03 season. Ranked 32nd at the 2003 World Junior Championships, she placed 18th the following year in The Hague, Netherlands. Maxwell won the silver medal at the 2004 International Challenge Cup, her senior international debut. Her first senior ISU Championship was the 2005 European Championships in Turin, Italy. She finished 14th at the event and then 29th at the 2005 World Championships. At the Karl Schäfer Memorial in October 2005, Maxwell won the bronze medal and qualified to compete at the Olympics in Turin. The Ukrainian Open is a senior international figure skating competition. The inaugural event was held in December 2013 in Kyiv. Not held in the following two seasons, the event was scheduled to return 9–13 November 2016 as part of the ISU Challenger Series but the International Skating Union listed the event as cancelled on 20 September. Qualification Skater eligibility To be eligible for the 2010 Winter Games, skaters needed to be older than fifteen as of July 1, 2009 and had to be a citizen of the country they were representing. 2006 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics (''Torino 2006'') was held on 10 February 2006 beginning at 20:00 CET (UTC+1) at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin, Italy. The ceremony was attended by 35,000 spectators with the presence of numerous international and Italian guests on the stage and heads of state and government on the stands. The event was broadcast live to an estimated two-billion audience worldwide by 32 television cameras. The ceremony saluted the region's culture and history, was highlighted by Italian celebrities and showcased Italian designs. There were the customary parade of athletes and raising of the host nation's flag and the Olympic flag. Luxembourg sent a delegation to compete in the 2006 Winter Olympics, held in Turin, Italy from 10 to 26 February 2006. Luxembourg returned to the Winter Olympic Games after missing the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. 2005 Karl Schäfer Memorial
The 2005 Karl Schäfer Memorial (also known as the Vienna Cup) took place from October 14 through 17, 2005 at the Albert Schultz Ice Rink. Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. It was the final Olympic qualifying competition for the 2006 Winter Olympics. Skaters who placed high enough qualified a spot to the Olympics for their country; there was no individual skater qualification. Countries who had already qualified a spot to the Olympics at the 2005 World Figure Skating Championships were not eligible to qualify more spots here, and their results were discounted from the overall results when allotting spots to countries.
