Flavio Cipolla (born 20 October 1983) is a former professional tennis player on the ATP Tour from Italy. He reached the second round at the French Open of 2007, where he lost to Rafael Nadal. He reached the 3rd round of the 2008 US Open. His career high rank is No. 70, achieved on 23 April 2012. Career 2008 Cipolla began 2008 with a bang the first week in January, winning the singles and doubles titles of the Challenger in New Caledonia, to get his singles ranking to a career high of #116. He won 2 more Challenger doubles titles in February in Belgrade and in March in Italy to establish himself as a top-100 doubles player. The Istanbul Open (also known as the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open for sponsorship purposes) was a men's tennis event on the ATP Tour held in the Turkish city of Istanbul. From 2015 to 2018, it was part of the ATP 250 Series. The tournament was played on outdoor clay courts. This was the first Turkish ATP World Tour event. The inaugural tournament was held from 27 April to 3 May 2015 at the "Koza World of Sports" facility, which is promoted as the largest tennis academy in the world. The center court featured a retractable roof and provided seating for 7,500 people. Two other clay show courts raised available seating to 9,500. The tournament was discontinued in 2018.
