Flamme (song)
Flamme is a famous song by French artist of Guadeloupean descent Slaï (real name Patrice Sylvestre). Song co-written by Slaï and Guy Bordey, it was recorded in late 1990s, it was originally a hit in the Caribbean region, and in Caribbean communities in France. With the increasing popularity of tropical music in France, it passed to mainstream and French radio stations started playing the song, prompting Sony Music to release it in France in 2004. It became an immediate hit in the summer of 2004, reaching number 4 on SNEP Official French Singles Chart. It was also included once again in the Slaï album ''Florilège'', an album that made it to number 14 on the French Albums Chart. "Flamme" by considered as one of the definitive songs of the tropical sound that became popular in France. Slaï
Patrice Sylvestre (born 10 February 1973), better known by his stage name Slaï, is a French singer of Guadeloupe origin. Sylvestre, born in France, spent his childhood and adolescence in Guadeloupe until 1996, when he returned to France. Interested in music early on, he release "Flamme" in 1998 that became a huge success in the Caribbean region and earned him a great following. He released his debut album ''Fresh'' in 1998 and the follow-up album, the self-titled ''Slaï'' in 2002 in local Caribbean markets. The releases were also known in Caribbean immigrant circles in France. In 2000, Slaï was recognized for his success with two awards during the Tropical Music Awards. ''Tropical Family'' is a banner for a musical collective of artists who came together in 2013 to collaborate on an album of tropical music and summer-y dance songs. The 12-track album was released on 1 July 2013, with 12 cover versions of well-known songs by diverse artists. A Deluxe edition was released in November with four additional tracks included. Initially, Serge Gainsbourg's "Couleur café" as performed by Louisy Joseph had been recorded, but eventually it was set aside in favor of Teri Moïse song "Les Poèmes de Michelle" as interpreted by Slaï on the album. Isabelle Geneviève Marie Anne Gall (9 October 1947 – 7 January 2018), known professionally as France Gall, was a French ''yé-yé'' singer. In 1965, aged 17, she won the Eurovision Song Contest for Luxembourg. Between 1973 and 1992, she collaborated with singer-songwriter Michel Berger. Mélissa Nkonda (born November 6, 1990 in Saint-Saulve, Nord, France), is a French singer. She is known for having participated in season 7 of the French reality show ''Nouvelle Star'' in 2009. Axel Tony (born in Colombes in 1984) is a French singer of mixed Cameroonian / Martinique / Vietnamese origin. He is signed to Universal Music France. Career Axel Tony was born to a Cameroonian father and a Martiniquais-born mother (of Vietnamese descent) and grew up on a mix of African rhythms, zouk and R&B music.
