Flame Of Calcutta
''Flame of Calcutta'' is a 1953 American historical film directed by Seymour Friedman and starring Denise Darcel, Patric Knowles and Paul Cavanagh. It was one of a number of historical films made by Sam Katzman's production unit for Columbia Pictures. It is set in India in the 1750s. Unusually for a B Movie of the era, it was shot in Technicolor. Plot In 1765 in India, amidst tensions among the provinces, Calcutta's King Amir Khasid (Gregory Gaye) is overthrown by the wicked Prince Jehan (George Keymas). Exiled to the hills of Sheran, Amir's forces continue the conflict, led by "The Flame" (Denise Darcel), a freedom fighter known for his brilliant red robes. Seymour Friedman
Seymour Friedman (August 17, 1917 – April 2, 2003) was an American film director. He later worked as a Unit production manager, production manager in television. Friedman began his career as an assistant director, before enlisting for military service following America's entry into World War II. He directed his first film, ''Trapped by Boston Blackie'', in 1948.Blottner p.66-67 Like many of the other films he directed, it was a low-budget series film. In the early 1950s, Friedman went to Britain to make a couple of films, before returning to Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hollywood. He directed his last film in 1956, and switched to working entirely in television. Robin Hughes (actor)
Robin Hughes (7 June 192010 December 1989) was a British film and television actor. Life and career Robin Hughes was born on 7 June 1920 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to English parents, Rosa Violet (Pitt) and Harold William Hughes. His father was head of the British Royal Wheat Commission, and Hughes spent his childhood moving from country to country as his father was transferred in government service; consequently, his early schooling was acquired in South America, Canada, Mozambique, East Africa and other places. At the age of 18, he joined the Royal Navy as a signalman and at the end of the Second World War, he left the service as lieutenant commander. Sol Gorss
Sol Gorss, born Saul Gorss (March 22, 1908 – September 10, 1966) was a prominent American movie and television actor and stunt man. He was active from the 1930s to the mid-1960s, when he died. Before Gorss became an actor, he worked as a professional football player, a caddy and an assistant golf professional. Gorss appeared in many films, including ''Warlock'', ''The Phantom (serial)'', and '' Adventures of Superman'', among many others. In 1944, he owned a night club. Bernard Miller (May 29, 1917 – July 21, 1982) was an American film and television actor. Born in New York. Barron began his career in 1946, first appearing in the film ''The Secret of the Whistler''. Edward Clark (May 6, 1878 – November 18, 1954) was a Russian-born American actor whose career began in the silent era. He appeared in more than 130 films between 1913 and 1955. East India Company
The East India Company (EIC) was an English, and later British, joint-stock company founded in 1600 and dissolved in 1874. George Keymas
George Keymas (November 18, 1925 – January 17, 2008) was an American film actor, film and television actor.Martin p.68 Keymas graduated from Springfield (Ohio) High School. Keymas began his Hollywood career in 1950, mainly in Westerns. His first screen appearance was in an uncredited role in the 1950 B-feature film, ''I Shot Billy the Kid'', with lead Don "Red" Barry. Due to his rugged looks, Keymas was cast in ethnic, often Native-American characters, or cow-punching, at times ruthless, cowboys, in countless film/TV westerns.
