The Fjölnir men's basketball, commonly known as Fjölnir, is the men's basketball department of Ungmennafélagið Fjölnir multi-sport club. It is based in Grafarvogur, Reykjavík. As of the 2019-2020 season it plays in the Úrvalsdeild karla. Bárður Eyþórsson
Bárður Eyþórsson (born 10 January 1968) is an Icelandic former basketball coach and player. He was twice named the coach of the year of the men's Úrvalsdeild, in the 2003–04 season and in the 2005–06 season, when he coached the Snæfell. Playing career Club career Bárður came up through the junior ranks of Snæfell but moved to Valur at the age of sixteen and played his first senior match in 1986. He played 191 games in the Úrvalsdeild karla from 1986 to 2000 and averaged 14.6 points per game. National team Bárður played three games for the Icelandic national basketball team from 1991 to 1992. Coaching career Bárður was hired as the head coach of Snæfell men's team in 2000. Tómas Holton
Tómas Albert Tómasson Holton (born 8 July 1964) is an Icelandic former basketball player and coach. In 1983, he won the Icelandic championship and the Icelandic Cup as a member of Valur. Playing the point guard position, he led the Úrvalsdeild karla in assists in 1995 and 2000. Playing career Club career Tómas started his senior team career with Valur during the 1981-82 season and with them won the national championship and Iceland Cup in 1983. In 1989, he left the team to play for Budapesti Honvéd in the Hungary Basketball League. The following season he stayed in Hungary and signed with TFSE. Pétur Guðmundsson (basketball)
Pétur Karl Guðmundsson (born 30 October 1958) is an Icelandic former professional basketball player and coach from Reykjavík. Standing 2.18 m (7'2"), weighing 118 kg (260 lb) and playing the center (basketball), center position, Pétur was the first Icelander and one of the first European players ever to play in National Basketball Association (NBA). Lárus Jónsson
Lárus Jónsson (born 28 November 1978) is an Icelandic basketball coach and former player. He is currently the head coach of Þór Þorlákshöfn. As a player, he played several seasons in the Icelandic top-tier Úrvalsdeild karla and was a member of the Icelandic national team. In 2021 he led Þór Þorlákshöfn to its first ever national championship. Keith Christophe Vassell (born 28 July 1971) is a Canadian-Icelandic basketball coach and a former member of the Canadian national basketball team. He played seven seasons in the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild karla, winning the national championship in 2000 with KR and the Icelandic Cup in 2007 with Íþróttafélag Reykjavíkur. Haukur Helgi Briem Pálsson (born 18 May 1992) is an Icelandic basketball player for Úrvalsdeild karla club Álftanes and the Icelandic national team. Gunnar Ólafsson (born 9 June 1993) is an Icelandic basketball player for Fryshuset Basket in the Swedish Basketball League and the Icelandic men's national basketball team. Danero Axel Thomas (born 8 April 1986) is an American and Icelandic basketball player who currently plays for Breiðablik in the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild karla.
