Tómas Holton
Tómas Albert Tómasson Holton (born 8 July 1964) is an Icelandic former basketball player and coach. In 1983, he won the Icelandic championship and the Icelandic Cup as a member of Valur. Playing the point guard position, he led the Úrvalsdeild karla in assists in 1995 and 2000. Playing career Club career Tómas started his senior team career with Valur during the 1981-82 season and with them won the national championship and Iceland Cup in 1983. In 1989, he left the team to play for Budapesti Honvéd in the Hungary Basketball League. The following season he stayed in Hungary and signed with TFSE. He returned to Valur in 1991 for one season as a player-coach before signing with Ammerud Basket in Norway in 1992. From 1994 to 2000, he played for Skallagrímur. Úrvalsdeild kvenna; English: Women's Premier League, known as Subway deild kvenna for sponsorship reasons, is the highest basketball competition among women's clubs in Iceland. Helgi Jónas Guðfinnsson
Helgi Jónas Guðfinnsson (born 18 April 1976) is an Icelandic basketball coach and former professional player. He spent the majority of his career with Grindavík where he won the Icelandic championship in 1996 and the Icelandic Cup in 1995, 1998 and 2006. He was twice named the Úrvalsdeild Domestic Player of the Year and once the Icelandic Basketball Men's Player of the Year. After his playing career came to an end, Helgi went into coaching and led Grindavík to the Icelandic Cup in 2011 and the national championship in 2012. Early life Helgi Jónas grew up Neskaupsstaður where he trained skiing and football in his youth. At the age of 11, he moved with his family to Grindavík where he started playing basketball. Bárður Eyþórsson
Bárður Eyþórsson (born 10 January 1968) is an Icelandic former basketball coach and player. He was twice named the coach of the year of the men's Úrvalsdeild, in the 2003–04 season and in the 2005–06 season, when he coached the Snæfell. Playing career Club career Bárður came up through the junior ranks of Snæfell but moved to Valur at the age of sixteen and played his first senior match in 1986. He played 191 games in the Úrvalsdeild karla from 1986 to 2000 and averaged 14.6 points per game. National team Bárður played three games for the Icelandic national basketball team from 1991 to 1992. Coaching career Bárður was hired as the head coach of Snæfell men's team in 2000. It came into existence as a daily newspaper in 1981 when two formerly independent newspapers, Vísir and Dagblaðið, merged. Keflavík Men's Basketball
The Keflavík men's basketball team, commonly known as Keflavík, is the men's professional basketball department of Keflavík ÍF (Keflavík, íþrótta- og ungmennafélag), based in the town of Reykjanesbær in Iceland. They currently play in Úrvalsdeild karla. Rivalry with Njarðvík Keflavík's biggest rivals are their closest neighbours, Njarðvík. The teams are both based in Reykjanesbær. Vladimir Obuchov
Vladimir Obukhov (Russian: Владимир Николаевич Обухов) (21 August 193516 July 2020) was a Soviet and Russian professional basketball coach. He was a Merited Coach of the Soviet Union and Honoured coach of Russia. Life and career Obukhov was born in Moscow. He graduated from the Regional Pedagogical Institute in Moscow in 1959. He started his career as coach with the Soviet Union national under-18 team in 1968 and was coach of the team until 1989. In 1972 Obuchov became assistant coach at MBC Dynamo Moscow. The team twice won third place in the USSR Premier Basketball League (1975 and 1976). In 1985 Obukhov became coach of the Soviet Union men's national basketball team.
