The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (german: Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes) and its variants were the highest awards in the military and paramilitary forces of Nazi Germany during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded for a wide range of reasons and across all ranks, from a senior commander for skilled leadership of his troops in battle to a low-ranking soldier for a single act of extreme gallantry. A total of 7,321 awards were made between its first presentation on 30 September 1939 and its last bestowal on 17 June 1945. Peter Fishbach (born August 29, 1947) is an American former professional tennis player. Biography Fishbach was born and raised in New York City. He attended Great Neck North High School. In 1963, 1964, and 1965 he was the New York State Public Schools Athletic Association tennis singles champion. He is the son of Joe Fishbach, who is considered a pioneer of indoor tennis courts, opening the country's first in 1958. Oskar Georg Fischbach (14 December 1880 – 1967) was a German lawyer and civil servant who was involved in drafting the civil service law at the end of the Weimar Republic and various official laws of Nazi Germany. Life Oskar Georg Fischbach was born in Strasbourg, then in Germany, on 14 December 1880. He gained a doctorate of Law in Strasbourg in 1907. In 1915 he was appointed to the District Court of Strasbourg. Fischbach became a civil servant in the Reich Treasury, then in the Reich Ministry of Finance. He became a member of the Nazi Party in May 1933, and was a member of the subcommittee on Civil Service Law of Hans Frank's Academy for German Law. Michelle Louise Helene Fischbach (; born November 3, 1965) is an American attorney and politician who is the U.S. representative from Minnesota's 7th congressional district. The district, which is very rural, is Minnesota's largest congressional district and includes most of the western area of the state. He is an associate professor of Bioengineering and ChEM-H Faculty Fellow at Stanford University and a Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Investigator. Marcel Fischbach (22 August 1914 – 27 June 1980) was a Luxembourgish politician, journalist, and diplomat. He held the position of Minister for Defence in the second cabinet of Pierre Werner. From 1939, he wrote for d'Wort, a daily newspaper. After the Second World War, Fischbach sat in both the Chamber of Deputies (1945 – 1958 and 1959 – 1964) and Luxembourg City's Luxembourg communal council (1945 – 1964).
