Firth Park ward—which includes the districts of Firth Park, Longley, Parson Cross and parts of Wincobank—is one of the 28 electoral wards in City of Sheffield, England located in the northern part of the city and covering an area of . The population of this ward in 2011 was 21,141 people in 8,602 households. Longley Park
Longley Park is a public park within the City of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The park lies between the suburbs of Longley and Firth Park, four km north of the city centre. It covers an area of just under 52 acres (21 hectares) and is the third largest public park in Sheffield. Geography The main entrance to the park lies on Crowder Road at although there are several other entrances around the perimeter. It is roughly triangular in shape and is bordered by Elm Lane, Longley Lane, Barnsley Road and Crowder Road. The park has a rolling landscape with hills and valleys, there are numerous copses of old trees. The Bagley Dike rises in a valley in the park and flows on the surface for a short distance before going underground via a man made culvert built in the 1930s to keep the dike away from the old open air swimming pool. Chaucer School, Sheffield
Chaucer School is a secondary school with academy status located in the Parson Cross area of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. Named after Geoffrey Chaucer, the school became Sheffield's third comprehensive school (after Myers Grove School and Hinde House School) in 1964, located on two sites separated by a field, one newly built. These were made up of the west building (Top) located on Halifax Road and the east building (Bottom) on Wordsworth Avenue. Yewlands School Technology College
Yewlands Academy (formerly known as Yewlands Secondary School and Yewlands Technology College) is a secondary school with academy status located in the Grenoside area of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. Until March 2018, it was managed by the Wakefield City Academies Trust. Following the collapse of the trust, it was taken over by the Brigantia Learning Trust who manage the nearby schools Hinde House School and Longley Park Sixth Form. Grenoside is a suburb of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The suburb falls within the West Ecclesfield ward of the city. History The name Grenoside is derived from the language of the Anglo-Saxons. The name Grenoside, which was first recorded in the thirteenth century as Gravenhou, is made up of the different elements. Gren from the Old English (Anglo-Saxon) ''graefan'' meaning a quarry. ‘o’ from the Old Norse ''haugr'' meaning hill and the modern word side, altogether meaning a quarried hillside. Hillsborough () is a suburb in north-west Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The centre of the district is popularly thought to be 'Hillsborough Corner' where Langsett Road, Middlewood Road, Holme Lane and Bradfield Road all meet. Lodge Moor Camp
Lodge Moor was a British military camp based near Redmires Reservoirs, Sheffield, that was best known for housing prisoners of war during World War II. It held approximately 11,000 at its peak, mostly Germans. It was established in World War I for training purposes. History World War I In World War I, Redmires Camp was set up in the area around Redmires Reservoir as a training camp for the Sheffield City Battalion. Archaeological surveys of nearby training areas, including trench systems dug by the trainee soldiers, were undertaken between 1999 and 2006, but no investigations were made of the camp. When the Sheffield City Battalion went overseas, the camp area was used by other British military units.
