First Vasantrao Naik Ministry
Vasantrao Naik became the chief minister of Maharashtra on 5 December 1963. He succeeded P. K. Sawant's interim government that had been sworn in after Marotrao Kannamwar's death. Naik's government served until 1967 legislative elections, after which Naik was sworn in for a second term. List of ministers The ministry consisted of 14 cabinet ministers. ''The Indian Express'' is an English-language Indian daily newspaper founded in 1932. It is published in Mumbai by the Indian Express Group. In 1999, eight years after the group's founder Ramnath Goenka's death in 1991, the group was split between the family members. The southern editions took the name ''The New Indian Express'', while the northern editions, based in Mumbai, retained the original ''Indian Express'' name with ''"The"'' prefixed to the title. Rafiq Zakaria
Rafiq Zakaria (5 April 1920 – 9 July 2005) was an Indian politician and Islamic religious cleric. He was closely associated with the Indian independence movement and Indian National Congress party. He was known for his advocacy of traditional Islam. Early life and education Zakaria, a Konkani Muslim from Maharashtra, was an alumnus of Ismail Yusuf College, Mumbai. He won the Chancellor's Gold Medal in the MA examination of University of Mumbai and in 1948 received a PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. His doctoral thesis was titled ''Muslims in India: a political analysis (from 1885–1906)''. He was called to the bar from Lincoln's Inn in England. Yashwantrao Mohite
Yashwantrao Jijoba Mohite (7 November 1920 – 22 August 2009), aka Bhau, was an Indian politician, a former member of the Lok Sabha from 1980 to 1984 and MLA from Karad, Maharashtra from 1952 to 1980 from Indian National Congress. When he was taking education in Kolhapur, he participated in the Indian freedom struggle. He was also one of founders of Peasants and Workers Party of India in 1947. In 1952, he became MLA from Karad (south) assembly constituency but resigned from the post as a part of agitation for demand of separate Maharashtra state. Keshavrao Sonawane (1925–2006) was an Indian politician, who served four terms in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, and was a Co-operative minister in Yashwantrao Chavan's cabinet and later Vasantrao Naik's cabinet during 1962–1967. Sadashiv Govind Barve
Sadashiv Govind Barve ( variously mentioned as Sa Go Barve (or S. G. Barve, ) (1914 – 1967) was an Indian politician. He first made his name as an administrator, and was later persuaded to join politics by Yashwantrao Chavan. He joined the Congress Party and was elected to Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha in 1962 from Shivajinagar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) in Pune. Five years later he was elected to Lok Sabha (Indian parliament) from Mumbai North East (Lok Sabha constituency). But he died on 6 March 1967, in the very week when results of the election were announced. The seat which fell vacant was filled by his sister Tara Govind Sapre who won the bypoll. He played a big role in establishing Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). A prominent road intersection in Pune is named after him. Shankarrao Bhavrao Chavan (14 July 1920 – 26 February 2004) was an Indian politician who served twice as Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 1975 until 1977 and from 13 March 1986 until 26 June 1988. He was Finance Minister of India from 1988 to 1989 and served as Home Minister of India in the P. V. Narasimha Rao cabinet from 21 June 1991 to 16 May 1996.
