''Firewatch'' is an adventure game developed by Campo Santo (company), Campo Santo and published by the developer in partnership with Panic Inc., Panic. The game was released in February 2016 for Microsoft Windows, macOS, OS X, Linux, and PlayStation 4, for Xbox One in September 2016, and for Nintendo Switch in December 2018. The story follows a fire lookout named Henry who works in Shoshone National Forest, a year after the Yellowstone fires of 1988. Campo Santo Productions LLC is an American video game developer based in Bellevue, Washington. Founded in September 2013 by Sean Vanaman, Jake Rodkin, Nels Anderson, and Olly Moss, the studio is best known for its debut game released in 2016, ''Firewatch''. In April 2018, the company was acquired by Valve. History Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin were both at Telltale Games as co-writers on the 2012 game '' The Walking Dead'', which was considered Telltale's first turn into a more narrative type of episodic adventure game. The game was a critical success, and while other projects came along, Vanaman started to become too comfortable with his role at Telltale, and felt that he would be more motivated if there was more discomfort or risk in his duties. Sean Vanaman
Sean Vanaman (born June 16, 1984) is an IrishAmerican video game designer, writer, and podcaster. He was the co-project leader and lead writer of '' The Walking Dead'', and '' Puzzle Agent 2''. He also wrote the third episode of ''Tales of Monkey Island'', and was the designer of '' Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures'', and the writer of the third episode, ''Muzzled''. Chris Remo is an American video game designer, composer, writer, podcaster, and former journalist. As a journalist, he cofounded the original Idle Thumbs website as well as its flagship podcast, and served as Editor-in-Chief of Shacknews and Editor at Large for Gamasutra. He composed the music for '' Thirty Flights of Loving'', ''Gone Home'', ''Spacebase DF-9'' and ''Firewatch''. He co-wrote '' The Cave'' with Ron Gilbert at Double Fine Productions. Jane Ng
Jane Ng is a Chinese-American 3D environment artist, best known for her work on ''Firewatch'', '' The Cave'', and ''Brütal Legend''. She previously worked at Campo Santo, a game studio that is part of Valve, as a Senior Environment Artist. Olly Moss
Oliver Jonathan Moss (born 24 January 1987) is an English graphic artist, best known for his reimagining of movie posters. His work has been released by Mondo and is regularly featured in ''Empire'' magazine. Background and early life Moss graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2008, having studied literature. Moss is a regular guest on the IGN UK and ''A Life Well Wasted'' podcasts. Shoshone National Forest ( ) is the first federally protected National Forest in the United States and covers nearly in the state of Wyoming. Originally a part of the Yellowstone Timberland Reserve, the forest is managed by the United States Forest Service and was created by an act of Congress and signed into law by U.S. President Benjamin Harrison in 1891. The Game Developers Choice Awards are awards annually presented at the Game Developers Conference for outstanding game developers and games. Introduced in 2001, the Game Developers Choice Awards were preceded by the Spotlight Awards, which were presented from 1997 to 1999. Fire Lookout
A fire lookout (partly also called a fire watcher) is a person assigned the duty to look for fire from atop a building known as a fire lookout tower. These towers are used in remote areas, normally on mountain tops with high elevation and a good view of the surrounding terrain, to spot smoke caused by a wildfire. Once a possible fire is spotted, "Smoke Reports", or "Lookout Shots" are relayed to the local Emergency Communications Center (ECC), often by radio or phone. A fire lookout can use a device known as an Osborne Fire Finder to obtain the radial in degrees off the tower, and the estimated distance from the tower to the fire. Part of the lookout's duties include taking weather readings and reporting the findings to the Emergency Communications Center throughout the day.
