The Finnish Open is a golf tournament played in Finland, currently on the Nordic Golf League. It was formerly an event on the Challenge Tour from 1990 until 2004. It was played at Espoon Golfseura in Espoo, Finland. It was founded as the Scandinavian Tipo Trophy before being sponsored by Volvo The Volvo Group ( sv, Volvokoncernen; legally Aktiebolaget Volvo, shortened to AB Volvo, stylized as VOLVO) is a Swedish multinational manufacturing corporation headquartered in Gothenburg. 2016 Nordic Golf League
The 2016 Nordic Golf League was the 18th season of the Nordic Golf League, one of four third-tier tours recognised by the European Tour. With the exception of a four-event Winter Series held in Spain, all official tournaments were held in Norway, Sweden, Finland, or Denmark. Although the ranking was calculated in euros, many prize funds were set in Danish krone or Swedish krona. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2016 season. Order of Merit The top five players (not otherwise exempt) on the Nordic Golf League Ranking earned Challenge Tour cards for 2017. Since the third-place finisher earned Challenge Tour status in a higher category by making the cut in the final stage of Q School, the sixth-place finisher received the fifth card. Haraldur Magnús
Haraldur Franklín Magnús (born 16 March 1991) is an Icelandic professional golfer who plays on the Challenge Tour. He participated in the 2018 Open Championship, becoming the first Icelandic golfer to compete in a men's major golf championship. Early life Magnús grew up in Reykjavík, Iceland, and attended college at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Career Magnús played in the 2015 Amateur Championship and turned professional in the following year. In 2018, he came through final qualifying for the 2018 Open Championship at Prince's Golf Club. A second-round 78 saw him miss the cut. In 2021, Magnús finish tied for the lead after 72 holes at the B-NL Challenge Trophy on the Challenge Tour.
