Axel Bóasson
Axel Bóasson (born 3 June 1990) is an Icelandic professional golfer. In 2017, he became Iceland's first winner on the Nordic Golf League and won the Nordic Golf League Order of Merit. He also won the mixed team gold and the men's silver at the 2018 European Golf Team Championships at Gleneagles, Scotland. Early life and amateur career Bóasson was born in Reykjavík. He won the Icelandic Championship in 2011 and represented Iceland at the 2011 European Amateur Team Championship and the 2012 Eisenhower Trophy. In 2015, he won both the Icelandic Match Play Championship and the Icelandic Stroke Play Championship. Bóasson attended Mississippi State University between 2010 and 2014 and played with the Mississippi State Bulldogs golf team in the Southeastern Conference. Professional career Bóasson turned professional in 2016 and joined the Nordic Golf League. Star For Life PGA Championship
The Swedish PGA Championship for men is a golf tournament played annually in Sweden since 1970. It has been an event on the Swedish Golf Tour schedule since 1984 and the Nordic Golf League since 1999. History From its beginning in 1970, it was a championship for members of the PGA of Sweden. Since 1986, the tournament has been open to foreign players. The tournament was part of the Challenge Tour from 1990 to 1996 and from 2001 to 2005. Since 1984, when tournament professionals had been dominating the event for several years, there is also a Swedish PGA Club Pro Championship, limited to club professionals in Sweden, with separate competitions for men, women and senior men categories. The Swedish PGA Championship for women has been played since 1997. The 2018 Challenge Tour was a series of professional golf tournaments collectively known as the Challenge Tour. The Challenge Tour is Europe's official developmental tour and is organised by the PGA European Tour. The Swedish Golf Tour Final, currently titled as The No. 1 Tour Final in Golf, is a golf tournament played as the season-ending championship of the Swedish Golf Tour. The Tour Final was introduced in the 2005 season, succeeding the Telia Grand Prix, a Challenge Tour event that had served as the season ending event for most years since 1996. The Swedish Golf Tour (women) had played the Telia Ladies Finale since 1997. Both were discontinued around the time tour sponsorship passed from Telia to Scandinavian Airlines and it became the SAS Masters Tour. Antti Juhani Ahokas (born 24 January 1985) is a Finnish professional golfer. Ahokas was born in Lappeenranta. After winning the Finnish Amateur Stroke Play Championship in 2005, he moved to the United States to attend the University of Minnesota, but left after just 3 months to return to Europe and further his ambitions as a professional. In 2006, Ahokas won the Irish Amateur Open Stroke Play Championship beating future world number 1 and major winner Rory McIlroy in a playoff. Having turned professional in 2006, Ahokas just failed to come through the European Tour final qualifying school and joined the second tier Challenge Tour for the 2007 season. In 2008, he won for the first time at the Abierto VISA de la Republica, becoming the first left-hander to take that title. The Swedish Match Play Championship is a golf tournament played since 1904, held for both men and women. It is the oldest and most traditional golf tournament in Sweden. The name SM is shortening in Swedish language for "Svenska Mästerskapet" (the Swedish Championship). History From the first tournament in 1904 (for men) and 1911 (for women) until 1983, it was an amateur tournament, from 1910 open only for Swedish citizens, and the winner was the official Swedish champion. Since 1984, except 1985, the tournament has been open to both amateurs and professionals and for foreign citizens.
