Finn Sletten
Finn Sletten (born 11 August 1952) is a Norwegian jazz musician (drums and percussions). Career Sletten was born in Bodø. After a study tour to Arizona (1968–70), he played in his home town with such musicians as Paul Weeden Band at Festival of North Norway (1972) and an album (1974). In Oslo he participated in Magni Wentzel Quintet, including Jon Eberson (guitar), Tore Brunborg (saxophone) and Jon Balke (keyboards) among others. From 1988 he was involved in "Trio Nord" (1988), Ola Bremness ''Vær hilset!'' (1995), Marit Sandvik band, Nordland jazzforums ''Distant Reports'' (2001), Tore Johansen and Jan Gunnar Hoff's production ''Free Flows'' (2005). Sletten assisted the jazz poet Triztán Vindtorn with percussion on Cecilie Jordal (2001)., a portion of the presentation "Philosophiske Smuler". Bodø (; smj, Bådåddjo, sv, Bodö) is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Salten. Curling Legs
__NOTOC__ Curling Legs Productions A/S (established 1992 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian record label with a catalogue encompassing all styles of jazz and improvised music. It was started by Knut Værnes and Morten Halle to release their own music. In 1994, Odin Records was licensed to Curling Legs from the Norwegian Jazz Forum, to continue the production of Norwegian jazz. In addition to Værnes and Halle, the third co-owner of Curling Legs is Helge Westbye, the director of the record label Grappa Music, and the label is part of FONO. Odin Records is a Norwegians, Norwegian jazz record company and label founded in 1981 by the Norwegian Jazz Federation, when there were not many independent record labels in Norway. Only major international record companies were to be found in Oslo, so Odin soon became the most important national label for contemporary Norwegian jazz. Bjørn Kjellemyr
Bjørn Kjellemyr (born 4 December 1950 in Bamble, Norway) is a jazz double bassist, known from a variety of musical contexts like Terje Rypdal & The Chasers, Joe Henderson, Bob Berg, Chet Baker, Art Farmer, Pat Metheny, Mike Stern, Dag Arnesen, Knut Riisnæs, Jon Eberson, Bugge Wesseltoft, Audun Kleive, Jon Balke, Jan Gunnar Hoff and Ketil Bjørnstad. Career Kjellemyr played bass in local rock bands in the Skien area, while he explored the jazz with pianist Rune Klakegg and joined in Guttorm Guttormsen's Big band and Quartet, with performances at the Norwegian Jazz Association's anniversary concerts in 1973 and Moldejazz Festival 1974. He moved to Oslo and studied at Norges Musikkhøgskole (1974–78). Morten Halle
Morten Halle (born 7 October 1957) is a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone), composer and music arranger. He was born in Oslo, and he is known from the city's jazz scene and from a series recordings. (in Norwegian) Career Halle participated in various small bands at the Oslo Jazz scene in the late 1970s, when he studied music at the University of Oslo 1981–86, he was with the band Cutting Edge, and from 1987 in a quartet with John Eberson (guitar), Bjørn Kjellemyr (bass), and Finn Sletten/Pål Thowsen (drums). The Gammleng Award ( no, Gammleng-prisen) is a Norwegian culture award created by ''The Fund for Performing Artists'' in 1982, 25 years after the fund was established in 1957. Stubøprisen
Stubøprisen (an Award initiated in 1989, in memory of the late guitar virtuoso and Northern Norway Enthusiast Thorgeir Stubø) is the highest honor given to a Northern Norwegian jazz musician. The award is given every second year to a person who makes or has made a special contribution to the Northern Norwegian Jazz Scene by the Thorgeir Stubø Memorial Fund (established 1987). The idea behind Thorgeir Stubø Memorial Fund is to honor a great jazz musician and simultaneously stimulate Northern Norwegian culture. Kristin Mellem (born 21 March 1965) is a Norwegian musician (violin), composer and conductor known for her involvement in Northern Norway's musical scene. She was educated at and Bergen Music Conservatory (1984–1990) and has worked as a violin teacher in Balsfjord, Bergen, Hadsel, and Tromsø. Furthermore, she has been named regional musician and conductor of the Vesterålen Symphony Orchestra, part of the (1987–1997), Tromsø Symphony Orchestra (1993–present), associated with Hålogaland Teater (, 2002) and Rikskonsertene (1997–2000).
