FindBugs
FindBugs is an open-source static code analyzer created by Bill Pugh and David Hovemeyer which detects possible bugs in Java programs. Potential errors are classified in four ranks: (i) scariest, (ii) scary, (iii) troubling and (iv) of concern. This is a hint to the developer about their possible impact or severity. FindBugs operates on Java bytecode, rather than source code. The software is distributed as a stand-alone GUI application. There are also plug-ins available for Eclipse, NetBeans, IntelliJ IDEA, Gradle, Hudson, Maven, Bamboo and Jenkins. Additional rule sets can be plugged in FindBugs to increase the set of checks performed. William Pugh (computer Scientist)
William Worthington Pugh Jr. (born 1960) is an American computer scientist who invented the skip list and the Omega test for decidability (logic), deciding Presburger arithmetic. He was the co-author of the static code analysis tool FindBugs, and was highly influential in the development of the current Java Memory Model, memory model of the Java (programming language), Java language. Pugh received a Ph.D. in computer science, with a minor in acting, from Cornell University. His thesis advisor was Tim Teitelbaum. In 2012 he became professor emeritus of the University of Maryland's department of computer science in College Park. Apache Maven
Maven is a build automation tool used primarily for Java projects. Maven can also be used to build and manage projects written in C#, Ruby, Scala, and other languages. The Maven project is hosted by The Apache Software Foundation, where it was formerly part of the Jakarta Project.
