Finbarr Clancy
Finbarr Clancy (born 5 March 1970) is an Irish folk singer and multi-instrumentalist. Early in his career he performed with The Clancy Brothers. He later became a member of the group The High Kings. Birth and family Finbarr Clancy was the only son born to folk musician Bobby Clancy and Moira Mooney in County Tipperary, Ireland. Bobby Clancy, who was touring with the Clancy Brothers at the time, announced Finbarr's birth on David Frost's television talk show. Finbarr is the nephew of the popular folk singers, Liam Clancy, Paddy Clancy, and Tom Clancy, who helped to spark the Irish folk music revival of the 1960s. Like the Clancy Brothers, he grew up in Carrick-on-Suir in County Tipperary. Finbarr has sometimes performed with his sister, folk singer Aoife Clancy, and his brother-in-law, Welsh singer Ryland Teifi (the husband of his sister, Roisin). He married Gráinne Butler in 2008. The High Kings
The High Kings is an Irish folk group formed in Dublin in 2008. The band consists of Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Darren Holden, and Paul O'Brien. As of 2020, the group had released five studio albums, four live albums, and two live DVDs, and one greatest hits album. Their first three studio albums appeared at number three or higher on the '' Billboard'' world music chart, the first two went platinum in Ireland, and all of their albums charted in Ireland. After the release of their first album, the new group moved from a highly staged format to a more natural performance style. Their third album ''Friends for Life'' contains both traditional Irish songs, as well as some original songs. Since the inception of the group, it has toured Ireland, the United States, and Europe on several occasions. Darren Holden (musician)
Darren Holden (born 4 July 1972) is an Irish singer-songwriter who has performed on Broadway as part of ''Riverdance'' and '' Movin' Out'' and in the national tours for both shows. His debut album, ''Suddenly'', released in Ireland and Europe in 1998, contained three Top 30 hit singles. He later joined the Irish folk group, the High Kings, along with Finbarr Clancy and Brian Dunphy. ''Rhythm of the Dance'', ''Riverdance'' and ''Movin' Out'' Darren Holden was born in the County Kilkenny town of Mooncoin in Ireland. Holden toured extensively with the Dublin group Boyzone from 1995 to 1997. He joined the new Irish dance/musical ''Rhythm of the Dance'' as lead vocalist in 1999 and spent 10 months performing in Scandinavia, Germany, Hungary, Belgium and Yugoslavia. ''The Girls Won't Leave the Boys Alone'' is an album by Cherish the Ladies released in 2001 on the Windham Hill label. The title reverses the lyrics "the boys won't leave the girls alone" from the Irish song " Belle of Belfast City/I'll Tell Me Ma", popularized in the album ''Irish Heartbeat'' by Van Morrison and The Chieftains. '' The Boys Won't Leave the Girls Alone'' is also the title of a 1962 album by The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. Two of the Clancy Brothers, Liam and Bobby Clancy, make guest appearances on ''The Girls Won't Leave the Boys Alone''. They both perform " Freeborn Man of the Traveling People" with Bobby's son, Finbarr, and daughter, Aoife Clancy, a former member of Cherish the Ladies.
