Filmfest München
The Munich International Film Festival (german: Filmfest München) is the largest summer film festival in Germany and second only in size and importance to the Berlinale. It has been held annually since 1983 and takes place in late-June/early-July. The latest festival was held from June 23 to July 2, 2022. It presents feature films and feature-length documentaries. The festival is also proud of the role it plays in discovering talented and innovative young filmmakers. With the exception of retrospectives, tributes and homages, all of the films screened are German premieres and many are European and world premieres. There are a dozen competitions with prizes worth over €250,000 which are donated by the festival's major sponsors and partners. With over 200 feature films and feature-length documentaries on more than 18 screens, Filmfest München attracts approximately 80 000 movie lovers each year. Gasteig
Gasteig is a cultural center in Munich, opened in 1985, which hosts the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. The Richard Strauss Conservatory, the Volkshochschule, and the municipal library are all located in the Gasteig. Most of the events of the Filmfest München, and many of the events of the Munich Biennale take place here. The Gasteig is planned to be restored until 2027. Oskar Roehler
Oskar Roehler (born 21 January 1959) is a German film director, screenwriter and journalist. He was born in Starnberg, the son of writers Gisela Elsner and Klaus Roehler. Since the mid-1980s, he has been working as a screenwriter, for, among others, Niklaus Schilling, Christoph Schlingensief and Mark Schlichter. Since the early 1990s, he has also been working as a film director. For his film No Place to Go he won the Deutscher Filmpreis. Sönke Wortmann
Sönke Wortmann (; 25 August 1959 in Marl, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German film director and producer. Biography Wortmann's father was a miner. After Wortmann's A-Levels he wanted to become a professional football player and started playing with Westfalia Herne and later SpVgg Erkenschwick in the German 3rd division. After three years he gave up the idea of becoming a professional football player. One semester he studied sociology before entering the University of Television and Film Munich to study film directing. After spending some time at the London Royal College of Art he finished his career successfully. While studying, he worked as a taxi driver and actor, for example in the TV series ''Die glückliche Familie''. His debut feature film ''Der bewegte Mann'' was released in 1994. A film director controls a film's artistic and dramatic aspects and visualizes the screenplay (or script) while guiding the film crew and actors in the fulfilment of that vision. No Budget Film
A no-budget film is a film made with very little or no money. Actors and technicians are often employed in these films without remuneration. Internationales Festival Der Filmhochschulen München
The Internationale Festival der Filmhochschulen München also known as ''Filmschoolfest Munich'' is one of the most important festivals for young filmmakers in the world. More than 3,500 films were screened at the festival so far. The next festival will be from November 15–21, 2020. The festival was established by Professor Wolfgang Längsfeld in 1981. It is held annually by the "Internationale Münchner Filmwochen GmbH", which is also responsible for Filmfest München each summer. Festival director is Diana Iljine (since 2011). Filmschools from all over the world can submit student short films. The submissions are evaluated by an expert jury. All chosen films are shown during the festival - each year approximately 100 foreign students and professors have the opportunity to meet, enter into discussions and share their experiences with each other.
