Maroula Lambrou
Maria Lambrou ( el, Μαρία Λάμπρου; born 23 February 1953 in Limassol, Cyprus), also known by her married name Maroula Lambrou-Teloni ( el, Μαρούλα Λάμπρου-Τελώνη, links=no), is a Greek-Cypriot athlete, best known as a long jumper. Lambrou is regarded by many as the greatest female athlete in Cypriot sports. Her personal best of 6.80 m in the long jump, achieved on 24 May 1985 and personal best of 5319 points in heptathlon achieved on 3–4 September 1984 in Cyprus, are the national records. Lambrou participated three times in the Olympics: the 1976 Summer Olympics (representing Greece), 1980 Summer Olympics (representing Greece) and the 1988 Olympics (representing Cyprus). 2022 World Athletics Championships
The 2022 World Athletics Championships was the eighteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships. It was held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, United States, from July 15–24, 2022, with the country hosting that competition for the first time. The competition was originally scheduled for August 6–15, 2021, but it was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, World Athletics banned all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from participating at the championships. In addition, the stringent vaccination requirements for people entering the United States caused visa delays for participants and officials, with some ultimately being unable to enter the country. These issues caused the final total to stand at 179 nations (180 including the Athlete Refugee Team), the lowest number since Tokyo 1991. Olivia Fotopoulou (born 20 December 1996) is a Cypriot track and field athlete who competes as a sprinter. She is a multiple time national champion in the 100 metres and 200 metres. Career In June 2022, she won a bronze medal in the 100 metres at the 2022 Mediterranean Games. She competed in the 200m at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon in July, running 23.25s in the first round. The following month she competed at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich running 23.33s in the semi-finals over 200m.
