Filanbanco
Filanbanco was the largest bank in Ecuador. Founded in the city of Guayaquil, it went bankrupt in 2001 following the 1998-99 Ecuador banking crisis, banking crisis of 1998. Beginnings The bank was originally called La Filantrópica (The Philanthropist). Under the leadership of Pedro Isaías Barquet, La Filantrópica promoted the development of small industry, commerce, and agriculture, and became established as a strong and solvent financial institution. At the time of Isaías Barquet's death in 1960, the family decided to save the bank and inject it with capital. It was acquired in 1960 by the The Isaias Group, Isaías Group (''Grupo Isaías''), who decided to change its name to Filanbanco. The Isaias Group
The Isaias Group ("Grupo Isaías") is an Ecuadorian pan regional entrepreneurial conglomerate with an interest in a vast range of sectors, the key industries being media, telecommunications and banking. The group, which owns more than 100 companies, is owned by three brothers, Roberto Isaias, William Isaias and Estefano Isaias. For decades, the group owned companies across several industries, including commercial, real estate, agroindustry, oil, and media. The three brothers led the group's growth and diversification since the 1980s. Lucio Edwin Gutiérrez Borbúa (born 23 March 1957 in Quito) served as 43rd President of Ecuador from 15 January 2003 to 20 April 2005. Early life Lucio Gutierrez, in full Lucio Edwin Gutiérrez Borbua, (born 23 March 1957, Quito, Ecuador), Ecuadoran army colonel and politician who served as president of Ecuador (2003–05). Gutiérrez was raised in Tena, an Amazon basin town. The United Nations Human Rights Committee is a treaty body composed of 18 experts, established by a 1966 human rights treaty, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
