Figueroa River
The Figueroa River is a river in the Aysén Region of southern Chile in South America. It runs only sixty-one kilometers from Green Lake (''Lago Verde'') to Rosselot Lake, but is considered an exceptional trout steam for fly fishing, as well as for kayaking and white-water rafting. It is part of the Palena River watershed (catchment basin), and its largest tributary is the Pico River The Pico River is a binational river of Patagonian Argentina and Chile. Chile is divided into 16 regions (in Spanish, ''regiones''; singular ''región''), which are the country's first-level administrative division. Lago Verde, Chile
Lago Verde is a Chilean commune located at the headwaters of the Cisnes River in Coyhaique Province, Aisén Region. The commune is administered by the municipality of Lago Verde, the principal settlement. History At the time of European arrival, the indigenous people in the area were the Tehuelche, who were nomadic hunter gatherers, however, the area has been occupied since at least 2,800 BP, and likely back as far as the end of the last ice age (11,400 BP). Some Europeans settled in the area in the early twentieth century, beginning in 1914 there were settlers in the upper reaches of the Cisnes River. The grant for the estancia "Sociedad Ganadera Cisnes" of over was made in the early 1920s. It encompassed almost all of what is now the La Tapera district. Cisnes (Spanish for: "port swans") is a Chilean commune located in the Aysén Province, Aysén del General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Region. The commune spans an area of . Pico River
The Pico River is a binational river of Patagonian Argentina and Chile. It is a tributary of the Figueroa River which it enters near El Manzanito in Chile. The Pico Rivers arises at the confluence of the Río Tromencó and the Río de las Mulas in Tehuelches Department, Chubut Province, Argentina, about east-southeast of the village of Río Pico and about east of the Chilean border. Palena River
The Palena River or Carrenleufú is a river shared by Chile and Argentina in Northern Patagonia. It drains the waters of the Vintter Lake, also shared by these nations, and it flows into the Pacific Ocean. 56.5% of the river basin lies in Chile. This river has a regular glacial regime and rapid white waters. The rapids between Palena and Puerto Raúl Marín Balmaceda are choice kayaking white water. The volume and rapid drop in elevation of the river is ideal for hydroelectric power plants. There are several projects at both sides of the border to use this power. A drainage basin is an area of land where all flowing surface water converges to a single point, such as a river mouth, or flows into another body of water, such as a lake or ocean. A basin is separated from adjacent basins by a perimeter, the '' drainage divide'', made up of a succession of elevated features, such as ridges and hills.
