Hartry Field
Hartry H. Field (born November 30, 1946) is an American philosopher. He is Silver Professor of Philosophy at New York University; he is a notable contributor to philosophy of science, philosophy of mathematics, epistemology, and philosophy of mind. Field is also Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Philosophy, University of Birmingham, UK. Education and career Field earned a B.A. in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin in 1967 and an M.A. in philosophy from Harvard University in 1968. He earned his Ph.D. in philosophy from Harvard in 1972 under the direction of Hilary Putnam. He taught first at Princeton University, and then at the University of Southern California and City University of New York Graduate Center before joining the NYU faculty. Noel Field
Noel Haviland Field (January 23, 1904 – September 12, 1970) was an American communist activist, diplomat and spy for the NKVD, whose activities before and after World War II allowed the Eastern Bloc to use his name as a prosecuting rationale during the 1949 Rajk show trial in Hungary, as well as the 1952 Slánský show trial in Czechoslovakia. While employed at the U.S. Department of State in the 1930s, Field acted as a Soviet spy. During World War II, he worked in France and Switzerland to support Jewish and anti-fascist refugees. During this time, he also had contacts with the U.S. intelligence service OSS. Arrested in Prague in 1949 by the Czechoslovak secret police and handed over to the Hungarian secret police and subsequently imprisoned in Hungary, he served as the pretext for show trials of communist functionaries in Czechoslovakia, East Germany, and Hungary, where it was claimed that he had served as their American spymaster. Nathan Field
Nathan Field (also spelled Feild occasionally; 17 October 1587 – 1620) was an English dramatist and actor. Life His father was the Puritan preacher John Field, and his brother Theophilus Field became the Bishop of Llandaff. One of his brothers, named Nathaniel, often confused with the actor, became a printer. Nathan's father opposed London's public entertainments: he delivered a sermon that attributed Divine judgment to the collapse of the public seating area, during a bear baiting on a Sunday, at Beargarden in 1583, which resulted in several deaths. Nathan presumably did not intend a career in the theatre; he was a student of Richard Mulcaster at St. Paul's School in the late 1590s. Michel Field (born 17 July 1954) is a French journalist, television presenter, philosopher and novelist. He is the author of several novels. He served as the political director of France Télévisions. Early life Michel Field was born as Michel Feldschuh on July 17, 1954 in Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, Vaucluse, France. His father, Erwin Feldschuh, was an Austrian Jew who emigrated to France. Field was educated at the Lycée Claude Bernard, the Lycée Balzac, and the Lycée Condorcet. Martha Amanda Field (born August 20, 1943) is the Langdell Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. She is a noted scholar of constitutional law, family law, and issues bioethics such as the rights of the mentally challenged. Biography Field is a graduate of the Winsor School. She earned her B.A. from Radcliffe, the former women's college of Harvard University, in Chinese history. She later earned a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1968, graduating at the top of her class. Field then clerked for Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas.
