Fidelitas Karlsruhe
FC Fidelitas Karlsruhe was an early German association football club, founded in 1895 in the city of Karlsruhe, now in Baden-Württemberg but then in the Grand Duchy of Baden. The term Fidelitas in the club's name results from the Karlsruhe coat of arms which it is part of. ''Fidelitas'' was one of eight founding members of the Southern German Football Association on 17 October 1897. The Grand Duchy of Baden (german: Großherzogtum Baden) was a state in the southwest German Empire on the east bank of the Rhine. It existed between 1806 and 1918. It came into existence in the 12th century as the Margraviate of Baden and subsequently split into the states of Baden-Durlach and Baden-Baden, which were reunified in 1771. It then became the much-enlarged Grand Duchy of Baden after the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire from 1803 to 1806 and was a sovereign country until it joined the German Empire in 1871. Karlsruher FV is a German association football club that plays in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg. Established on 17 November 1891, KFV was a founding member of the German Football Association (Deutscher Fussball-Bund) in 1900 and is the oldest still existing football club in Southern Germany. The club was one of the leading German football clubs before the First World War. The team went on to capture the national championship in 1910 with a 1–0 victory over Holstein Kiel, but lost the final in 1905 and 1912.
