Fiat C Platform
The Fiat C-platform was an automobile platform used in small family cars of the Fiat Group. The predecessors of the C-platform were the Type Three and Type Two platforms, and the successor is the new Compact platform which debuted in Alfa Romeo Giulietta in 2010. First generation (C1) The first generation C-platform was no more of a lightly developed Type Two platform: it retained almost all of its structure (including the wheelbase in most models) and components, including the suspension layout, albeit with some revisions. It is also called "Type Two rev. 2". As in the Type Two platform, the suspension is independent all-around, composed of MacPherson struts at the front and trailing arms at the rear. Fiat Bravo (2007)
The Fiat Bravo (Type 198) is a small family car produced by Italian manufacturer Fiat from 2007 to 2014. It was introduced to the press in January 2007 in Rome, and later to the public in March at the Geneva Motor Show. A minor facelift was available from 2010, with changes to the front grille, door handles and side mirrors, new colors, as well as interior improvements. The car was launched on 21 April 2007. European production, at the Cassino plant, ended in July 2014, being part of FCA's ''5 Year Plan'', presented by Sergio Marchionne on 7 May 2014. It was replaced by the Fiat Tipo and the similarly sized Fiat 500X. The Stabilimento di Mirafiori (in English, the Mirafiori Factory) is the headquarters and industrial district of the Italian automobile manufacturer Fiat, a subsidiary of FCA Italy, which is part of Stellantis, and is the headquarters of CNH Industrial Group. The name Mirafiori derives from the homonymous district in which it is located (in turn derived from the name of an ancient castle of the Savoy). Double Wishbone Suspension
A double wishbone suspension is an independent suspension design for automobiles using two (occasionally parallel) wishbone-shaped arms to locate the wheel. Each wishbone or arm has two mounting points to the chassis and one joint at the knuckle. The shock absorber and coil spring mount to the wishbones to control vertical movement. Double wishbone designs allow the engineer to carefully control the motion of the wheel throughout suspension travel, controlling such parameters as camber angle, caster angle, toe pattern, roll center height, scrub radius, scuff and more. Implementation The double-wishbone suspension can also be referred to as "double A-arms", though the arms themselves can be A-shaped, L-shaped, or even a single bar linkage. A (semi) trailing-arm suspension, sometimes referred to as (semi) trailing-link is a vehicle axle or wheel suspension design in which one or more horizontal arms (or "links"), perpendicular to and forward of the axle, are connecting the axle or wheels with pivot joint(s) ahead of them, on the structure (unibody or chassis) of a motor vehicle. These are typically used on the rear axle or wheels of a vehicle, but also found in aircraft landing gear. MacPherson Strut
The MacPherson strut is a type of automotive suspension system that uses the top of a telescopic damper as the upper steering pivot. It is widely used in the front suspension of modern vehicles, and is named for American automotive engineer Earle S. MacPherson, who invented and developed the design. History Earle S.
