Féy, Moselle
Féy (; german: Buch in Lothringen) is a commune in the Moselle department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. It lies to the south of Metz. History Historically, the village possessed a church (''église Saint-Pierre'') built in 1859 which was destroyed in 1944 during the Second World War. María Fernanda Blázquez Gil (born July 21, 1973), known artistically as Fey, is a Latin Grammy Award-nominated Mexican singer, songwriter, designer, dancer, record producer, and director. She has released seven studio albums and done one international tour and a short tour to promote her third studio album. She rose to fame with her self-titled debut album, ''Fey,'' released in 1995, which was followed by ''Tierna La Noche'', and ''El Color De Los Sueños''. All three studio albums were produced by José Ramón Florez. Tierna La Noche reached #10 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. ''Fey'' is the debut studio album by Mexican singer Fey, released on 27 June 1995, through Sony Music Entertainment Mexico, it has sold over 2 million worldwide. Background and recording Initially, Fey began as a backup singer of the group ''Las Hermanas Gil'', which was made up by two of her aunts, a very famous duo during their time. Fey's family did not agree with her wishing to attend dance and singing classes, as they felt she was too young. For this reason, her aunts decided to include her in the group in some way. Meanwhile, Fey was recording demos for different labels until around 1989 PolyGram was interested in the Fey's concept, she was then 16 years old. Finally, PolyGram did not admit Fey into their label. Fey and her aunt Nohemi Gil were knocking on doors, until in 1994, until there was an opportunity with Sony Music, thanks to Toño Berumen, who showed interest in Fey. "Fèy" is a traditional '' Vodou'' folk song in Haiti. In Haitian Creole, "fèy" means "leaf", and the lyrics of the song describe a leaf falling from a tree. Like many traditional songs in ''Vodou'' folklore, the lyrics of "Fèy" can hold many meanings, both religious and political. At least two ''mizik rasin'' bands in the 1990s sang adaptations of the traditional song. A version first performed by RAM in 1992 was banned throughout Haiti during the remaining years of the Raoul Cédras military junta. In 1991, a military junta headed by Raoul Cédras seized power in a coup d'etat, overthrowing the elected president, Jean-Bertrand Aristide.
