Feufollet is an Americana/Cajun band from Lafayette, Louisiana. History Formation The band formed in 1995. Awards The band has been recognized through awards including receiving a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album for its album ''En Couleurs'' (2010). It also received the Big Easy Award for "Best Cajun Band". Personnel Singer and rhythm guitarist Anna Laura Edmiston—a member of the band since 2003—left the band in 2012 to pursue other interests. She was replaced by Kelli Jones-Savoy. Valcour Records is an independent record label based in Eunice, Louisiana. Valcour was founded in 2006 by Joel Savoy (son of Marc and Ann Savoy), with friends Phillip LaFargue II and Lucius Fontenot. Valcour Records' first release in 2006 was ''Goin' Down to Louisiana'' by fiddle player Cedric Watson and accordionist Corey Ledet. Valcour has since released albums with Louisiana bands such as the Figs, Bonsoir Catin, GIVERS, and Feufollet. Through the Cajun and Creole rinking songs compilation ''Allons Boire un Coup'' (2007), the label has also featured the Pine Leaf Boys, Ann Savoy, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys">Steve Riley and Racines, The Red Stick Ramblers, the Lost Bayou Ramblers, and Balfa Brothers, Balfa heir Courtney Granger. The Grammy Award for Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album was an honor presented to recording artists at the 50th, 51st, 52nd and 53rd Annual Grammy Awards (2008–2011) for quality zydeco or cajun music albums. The Grammy Awards, an annual ceremony that was established in 1958 and originally called the Gramophone Awards, are presented by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States to "honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position". Beginning in 2001, advocates began lobbying for a Grammy category specifically for cajun and zydeco music. Cajun Music
Cajun music (french: Musique cadienne), an emblematic music of Louisiana played by the Cajuns, is rooted in the ballads of the French-speaking Acadians of Canada. Although they are two separate genres, Cajun music is often mentioned in tandem with the Creole-based zydeco music. Both are from southwest Louisiana and share French and African origins. These French Louisiana sounds have influenced American popular music for many decades, especially country music, and have influenced pop culture through mass media, such as television commercials. Bayou Teche Brewing is a brewery in Arnaudville, Louisiana, USA. Bayou Teche Brewing, named for the nearby Bayou Teche, was formed by three brothers, Karlos, Byron and Dorsey Knott, when they started brewing in an abandoned railcar on St. Patrick's Day in 2009.
