Ferriday High School is a public high school in Ferriday, Louisiana, United States. It is one of three high schools ran by the Concordia Parish School Board. Ferriday, Louisiana
Ferriday is a town in Concordia Parish, Louisiana, Concordia Parish, which borders the Mississippi River and is located on the central eastern border of Louisiana, United States. With a population of 3,511 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census, it is an African-American majority town. Ferriday was integral to the promotion of blues music through Haney's Big House lounge in the African-American community. Almost every Delta Blues musician played at Haney's. The Delta Music Museum in the downtown historic district is open daily to visitors, many of whom come from out of state. It is located next to the restored Arcade Theater. The museum contains exhibits on Ferriday natives, some of whom were blues, rock, pop, and country musicians. The town claims to have produced more famous people per square mile than any other in America. The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) is the agency that regulates and promotes the interscholastic athletic competitions of all high schools in the state of Louisiana. Organization LHSAA was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in October 1920. The LHSAA's main office was in Hammond from 1953 until 1972, when it returned to Baton Rouge. Walter Ulysses Johnson (born November 13, 1963) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for the Houston Oilers and New Orleans Saints. He played college football at Louisiana Tech University. Early years Johnson attended Ferriday High School, where he was a defensive end. He also practiced basketball and track. He accepted a football scholarship from Louisiana Tech University. As a sophomore in 1984, he registered 76 tackles, 11 sacks and 2 blocked kicks.
