Fernsehen aus Berlin (FAB) was a regional television station in Berlin, Germany. FAB was founded on 15 August 1990 and started its first broadcast on 1 February 1991. FAB operated on a complex rotating schedule, broadcasting several hours of fresh programming per day, focusing on local and regional themes with an emphasis on informational broadcasts. Its main evening programme was "Hallo Berlin", presenting daily news and lotto numbers. FAB could be received via analogue terrestrial broadcast and by cable television. 576i is a standard-definition television, standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for digitizing analog television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. Standard-definition television (SDTV, SD, often shortened to standard definition) is a television system which uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. "Standard" refers to it being the prevailing specification for broadcast (and later, cable) television in the mid- to late-20th century, and compatible with legacy analog broadcast systems.
