Ferguson Lake (Sudbury District)
Ferguson Lake is a lake in geographic Hess Township, Sudbury District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is in the Great Lakes Basin and is the source of Carhess Creek. There are no inflows. The primary outflow, at the south and leading south to Green Lake, is Carhess Creek, which flows via the Onaping River, the Vermilion River and the Spanish River to Lake Huron. Sudbury District
The Sudbury District is a district in Northeastern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was created in 1894 from townships of eastern Algoma District and west Nipissing District. The overwhelming majority of the district (about 92%) is unincorporated and part of Unorganized North Sudbury District. With the exception of Chapleau, all of the district's incorporated municipalities are found in the area immediately surrounding the city of Greater Sudbury to the west, east and south. North of the Greater Sudbury area, the district is sparsely populated; between Sudbury and Chapleau, only unincorporated settlements, ghost towns and small First Nations reserves are found. Northeastern Ontario is a secondary region of Northern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario, which lies north of Lake Huron and east of Lake Superior. Northeastern Ontario consists of the districts of Algoma, Sudbury, Cochrane, Timiskaming, Nipissing and Manitoulin. For some purposes, Parry Sound District and Muskoka District Municipality are treated as part of Northeastern Ontario although they are geographically in Central Ontario. Lake Huron
Lake Huron ( ) is one of the five Great Lakes of North America. Hydrology, Hydrologically, it comprises the easterly portion of Lake Michigan–Huron, having the same surface elevation as Lake Michigan, to which it is connected by the , Straits of Mackinac. Spanish River (Ontario)
The Spanish River is a river in Algoma District, Sudbury District and Greater Sudbury in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It flows in a southerly direction from its headwaters at Spanish Lake (west branch) and Duke Lake (east branch) to its mouth at the North Channel of Lake Huron just outside the community of Spanish. The river's name and the name of the nearby towns of Espanola and Spanish are said to be due to French explorers and Jesuit priests encountering Ojibwe peoples speaking Spanish in the area, apparently as a result of a Spanish woman having been taken captive during an expedition far to the south. The Spanish River is a provincially significant canoe route with lots of swifts and whitewater. The Vermilion River (Ojibwa/Odawa: ''Atikamgzib'' or ''Dikmegzubi'' meaning ''“whitefish river”'') is a river in the Lake Huron drainage basin in Sudbury District and Greater Sudbury in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. Onaping River
The Onaping River is a river in Greater Sudbury and Sudbury District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is in the Great Lakes Basin and is a right tributary of the Vermilion River. Course The creek begins at Onaping Dam on Turceotte Bay on Onaping Lake in geographic Emo Township, Sudbury District, and flows southeast then south, and takes in the left tributary Michaud River. It continues south, passes into geographic Levack Township, Greater Sudbury, takes in the right tributary Carhess Creek, flows over a long series of rapids, enters geographic Dowling Township and passes under Ontario Highway 144 at the community of Levack.
