Ferguson Lake (Kivalliq Region)
Ferguson Lake is a lake in Kivalliq Region, Nunavut, Canada. It is located north of the tree line, midway between Yathkyed Lake and Qamanirjuaq Lake. The lake's outflow is to the east into the Ferguson River, which flows eastward through several lakes, emptying into northwestern Hudson Bay between Rankin Inlet and Whale Cove. The closest community is Baker Lake, to the north. The lake was discovered by Canadian Arctic explorer Joseph Tyrrell's Geological Survey of Canada 1894 canoe expedition that included Robert Monro Ferguson, Scottish sportsman and '' aide-de-camp'' to Lord Aberdeen, Governor General of Canada. Ferguson became the namesake of the lake and the river.(Hodgins, 1994, pg. 109) Geography The lake has an irregular contour with deep bays, long points, grassy slopes, terraces underlain with sand and gravel, and rocky narrows. Tahiryuaq
Tahiryuaq, formerly Ferguson Lake, ( Inuinnaqtun: ') is located on southern Victoria Island in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut, in northern Canada. It drains westward into Iqaluktuuq (meaning "place of big fish") which is a segment of the Ekalluk River, from the northeastern side of Wellington Bay (''Ekaloktok''), on Dease Strait, Arctic Ocean Ferguson Lake was the namesake of Constable Ferguson, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police member, but is now known by the original name of Tahiryuaq Tahiryuaq has been characterized as "polar semi-desert". Its fauna includes willow-sedge meadows, dryas uplands, and raised beaches. The narrow land area between Wellington Bay and Tahiryuaq funnels migrating Dolphin-Union caribou herd, making them easy prey for Inuit hunters. Ferguson Lake (Stewart Township)
Ferguson Lake is a lake in the geographic Stewart Township, Nipissing District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Saint Lawrence River drainage basin. Ferguson Lake has two unnamed inflows, both at the southwest. The primary outflow is an unnamed creek at the east which flows through several lakes and eventually to the Little Jocko River. The Little Jocko River flows via the Jocko River and the Ottawa River to the Saint Lawrence River. The Ontario Northland Railway passes through the community of Tomiko about northwest of the lake. Ferguson Lake is a lake in the municipality of Temagami, Nipissing District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is in geographic Strathy Township and is part of the Saint Lawrence River drainage basin. Ferguson Lake has three inflows. The primary inflow is Net Creek at the northeast; there are two other unnamed inflows, one at the northwest, arriving from the direction of Owaissa Lake, and one at the west. The primary outflow is also Net Creek, which flows via Cassels Lake, Rabbit Lake, the Matabitchuan River, Lake Timiskaming and the Ottawa River to the Saint Lawrence River.
