The New Hampshire Senate has been meeting since 1784. It is the upper house of the New Hampshire General Court, alongside the lower New Hampshire House of Representatives. It consists of 24 members representing Senate districts based on population. As of December 2, 2020, there are 14 Republicans and 10 Democrats. Strafford County, New Hampshire
Strafford County is a county in the U.S. state of New Hampshire. As of the 2020 census, the population was 130,889. Its county seat is Dover. Strafford County was one of the five original counties identified for New Hampshire in 1769. It was named after William Wentworth, 2nd Earl of Strafford in the mistaken belief that he was the ancestor of governor John Wentworth – although they were distantly related, William had no descendants. The county was organized at Dover in 1771. In 1840, the size of the original county was reduced with the creation of Belknap County. Strafford County constitutes a portion of the Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as of the greater Boston-Worcester-Providence, MA- RI-NH- CT Combined Statistical Area. Biography Jacalyn Cilley was born in Berlin, New Hampshire on August 5, 1951. Her father, Archie Edward Rowe, was a trucker and Korean War veteran and her mother Celestine Phyllis Currier worked in a textile factory. Sam Cataldo (July 16, 1937 – February 3, 2018) was a Republican member of the New Hampshire Senate, representing the 6th district from 2012 to 2016. His district comprised the towns of Alton, Barnstead, Farmington, Gilmanton, New Durham, and the city of Rochester. He previously served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives for four terms.
