Feldhockey Bundesliga (Women's Field Hockey)
The Feldhockey Bundesliga is the top level of women's field hockey in Germany and is organized by the German Hockey Federation. The league ranks second European women's league rankings. It was established in 1940. Format The season starts in August or September and is interrupted by the indoor hockey season from November to March. From April the outdoor season will be continued. Since the 2011–12 season the league was played by twelve teams who played each other twice and who competed for four spots in the championship play-offs. The number one and four and the number two and three played each other in the semi-final and winners qualified for the final where the winner was crowned champion. The two last-placed teams were relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. For the 2019–20 season the German Hockey Federation introduced a new format. The German Hockey Federation (german: Deutscher Hockey-Bund or DHB) is the national governing body for field (and indoor) hockey in Germany. It was founded in 1909 in Bonn. It is situated in Mönchengladbach and had 66,145 members on 1 January 2006. The body is built by the club which are organised in subdivisions on the level of the States of Germany, ''Bundesländer''. The association itself is member of the DOSB (Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund), the European Hockey Federation, EHF and the International Hockey Federation, FIH. Großflottbeker THGC
Grossflottbeker Tennis Hockey and Golf Club (GTHGC) is a tennis, field hockey and golf club based in Hamburg, Germany. The club was founded on 1 July 1901 as a tennis club. Ten years later, a hockey club was founded and in 1937 a golf club was added. The club currently has approximately 2,000 members. Grossflottbeker Hockey Club won several tournaments in the past and the Ladies Team were very successful in the 1960s and 1970s, winning four national titles. In 1978 the women even reached the final of the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup. The hockey club hosts the Jacques Paloume tournament every three years.
