Feldberg, Baden-Württemberg
Feldberg is a municipality in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It is located near the Feldberg, the highest summit in Baden-Württemberg. It comprises the settlements of Altglashütten, Neuglashütten, Falkau, Bärental, and Feldberg. At an elevation of 1,277 m, the last is considered the highest village in Germany. Geography The Feldberg municipality has the slogan "The highest in the Black Forest" and is located in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park at the Feldberg Pass. Wilhelm Feldberg
Wilhelm Siegmund Feldberg (19 November 1900 – 23 October 1993) was a German-British physiologist and biologist. Biography Feldberg was born in Hamburg to a wealthy middle class Jewish family. He studied medicine at Heidelberg, Munich and Berlin, graduating in 1925. In the same year he moved with his new wife to England and studied first under John Newport Langley at Cambridge and then Henry Dale at Hampstead. In 1927 he returned to the Physiological Institute in Berlin but he was dismissed in 1933 during the Nazi purge of Jewish scientists. With the aid of Archibald Hill's Academic Assistance Council, Feldberg was relocated to Britain's National Institute for Medical Research in 1934–36. Here, he worked with Henry Hallett Dale, providing a significant impetus for Dale's Nobel Prize winning research into chemical neurotransmission. Ojārs Arvīds Feldbergs is a Latvian sculptor. He founded the Pedvāle Open Air Museum in 1992. Biography Ojārs Feldbergs was born in Riga, Latvia. He graduated from the Department of Sculpture at the Latvian Academy of Fine Arts in 1976. The Defense of Riga In January, 1991, four large granite blocks from his studio formed the political artwork "Barricade". This blocked a street in Old Riga, to prevent entry of Soviet tanks. These blocks were later used in 2005 to form the sculpture "Swell". The blocks themselves now rest at the Pedvāle Open Air Art Museum, where they have been used in other patriotic works and displays. Meyer Feldberg was the dean of Columbia Business School from 1989 to 2004. He also served as the president of the Illinois Institute of Technology from 1987 to 1989. Early life and career Feldberg was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. David Feldberg (born 1977) is an American professional disc golfer, and tournament director. At the end of the 2017 season, he was the 45th ranked disc golfer in the world. Feldberg is one of the most successful disc golfers in the sport's history, having won 6 unique majors, second all time. Müllheim (High Alemannic: ''Mille'') is a town in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It belongs to the district Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. Müllheim is generally considered to be the center of the region known as Markgräflerland. History On October 27, 758 Strachfried gave as a gift to the monastery of St. Gallen his properties in Müllheim, including the vineyards. Feldberg (Hessian Rhön)
The Feldberg is a mountain in the Rhön highlands in the German state of Hesse. It is . It is located about three kilometres northeast of Gersfeld in the county of Fulda, near the border with Bavaria and is part of the Hessian Rhön Nature Park and the Rhön Biosphere Reserve. The nearest settlements are Obernhausen to the northwest and Sandberg on the southern spurs of the mountain. The Feldberg is a southwestern outpost of the mountain ridge that runs from the Wasserkuppe to the Heidelstein. The youthful Fulda flows past below its western slopes. The section of the B 284 federal road from Gersfeld to Wüstensachsen runs past the Feldberg in a curve to the west and north.
