Fedor Alekseyevich Gorst (russian: Фёдор Алексеевич Горст; born May 31, 2000, in Moscow) is a Russian-born American professional pool player. Career In December 2018, Gorst reached 8th in the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) world rankings. Gorst won the U19 8-Ball European Pool Championship in 2017, before winning the 2018 Treviso Open on the Euro Tour. Gorst is also a Junior 9-ball world champion, winning the 2017 WPA World Nine-ball Junior Championship in the boys (Under 19) event. Gorst won the 2019 WPA World Nine-ball Championship, defeating Chang Jung-lin in the final 13–11. Chang Jung-lin
Chang Jung-lin (born May 2, 1985) is a Taiwanese 8-ball and Nine-ball pool player. He became WPA World Eight-ball Champion in 2012 and won the silver medal at the 2013 World Games for Nine-ball. Jun-Lin is a former world number 1, having done so first after winning WPA World Eight-ball Championship in 2012. He studied at Chinese Culture University and is currently married. WPA World Nine-ball Championship
The WPA World Nine-ball Championship is an annual professional nine-ball pool tournament contested since 1990. The championship is sanctioned by the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) and principally sponsored and organised by Matchroom Sport, who provide the event's official website branded as World Pool Championship. The championship is divided into men's, women's and wheelchair divisions. History In the summer of 1989, the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) began plans for a world championship tournament. The group sent invitations, rules, sports regulations and by-laws. Reception was positive, and a provisional Board was created. In March 1990, the inaugural WPA World Nine-ball Championship was held in Bergheim, Germany. 2020 Mosconi Cup
The 2020 Mosconi Cup was a team nine-ball tournament, between teams representing Europe and the United States. It was the 27th edition of the competition and took place between 1–4 December 2020. The event was originally scheduled to be held at the Alexandra Palace in London, however it was moved to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry with the whole event behind closed doors in a Covid-19 secure bubble. The coronavirus pandemic also affected the team selection, with Corey Deuel replacing Justin Bergman for Team USA after Bergman tested positive for Covid-19. Team USA were defending champions, having won the two previous tournaments. After a close first day, Team Europe were 3-2 ahead but only lost one further match, winning the cup 11-3. Jayson Shaw won the Most Valuable Player award for the first time after winning all his singles and doubles matches. Derby City Classic
The Derby City Classic is an annual pool convention and tournament held every January at the Caesars Southern Indiana casino in Elizabeth, Indiana, near Louisville, Kentucky. It is eight days long and offers various disciplines of competition for pool players of all caliber. It is often referred to as the DCC. History The annual convention has been in existence since 1997. Diamond Billiard Products, is the title sponsor of the event, and the lead tournament promoter is Greg Sullivan. Over $100,000 is to the tournament payouts. Sullivan was inspired to create the DCC by the Johnston City Classic, a former one-pocket tournament held in Johnston City, Illinois and first organized in 1961 with the purpose of bringing America's top pool gamblers together. During the eight-day-long convention, competition is held consecutively in three major disciplines, bank pool, nine-ball, and one-pocket. 2017 WPA World Nine-ball Junior Championship
The 2017 WPA World Nine-ball Junior Championship was a professional youth 9-Ball World Championship held between October 30 and November 2, 2017. The event was split into three competitions, Under 17s, boys and girls. Sanjin Pehlivanović won the U17 event, defeating Robbie Capito in the final, with Fjodor Gorst winning the boys event. Kristina Tkatsch won the girls event defeating South Korea's Lee Woo-jin in the final.
