Federbach (Alb)
The Federbach is a roughly stream in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It flows through the districts of Karlsruhe and Rastatt and discharges today near the Karlsruhe district of Maxau into the Alb. Its source region lies in the municipality of Malsch on the edge of the Northern Black Forest. Unlike the other streams on the right-hand side of the Upper Rhine Plain the Federbach flows from Malsch initially southwest, then swings west near Muggensturm and accompanies the Rhine northwards for a long way after entering the Rhine lowlands. As a result of the influence of man from the early 18th century to the 1930s the course of the Federbach was significantly changed. The 1993 water management and ecological pilot project, "Federbach lowland development concept" (''Entwicklungskonzept Federbachniederung'') aimed to develop the Federbach and its lowland areas into a near-natural region. Muggensturm
Muggensturm is a municipality in the district of Rastatt in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Geography Muggensturm is sited in the Upper Rhine Plain at the foot of the Black Forest. The Federbach flows through the town and the neighboring 43 ha nature reserve ''Federbachbruch''. The municipality borders Bietigheim, Malsch (district of Karlsruhe), Oberweier, Kuppenheim, Waldprechtsweier and Bischweier. Muggensturm's area contains the municipality as well as the ''Ziegelhütte'' house in the ''Steinhardt'' and the lost settlements of Eichelbach and Frierlinde. The Upper Rhine Plain, Rhine Rift Valley or Upper Rhine Graben (German: ''Oberrheinische Tiefebene'', ''Oberrheinisches Tiefland'' or ''Oberrheingraben'', French: ''Vallée du Rhin'') is a major rift, about and on average , between Basel in the south and the cities of Frankfurt/Wiesbaden in the north. Northern Black Forest
The Northern Black Forest (german: Nordschwarzwald) refers to the northern third of the Black Forest in Germany or, less commonly today, to the northern half of this mountain region. Geography The Northern Black Forest is bounded in the north by a line from Karlsruhe to Pforzheim and, in the south, by a line running from the Rench valley to Freudenstadt. Alb (Oberrhein)
The Alb is a river in the Northern Black Forest in Germany. It is a tributary of the Rhine, and flows through the cities of Karlsruhe, Ettlingen and Bad Herrenalb. Geography The river Alb begins about from Bad Herrenalb. From its source it flows north through Bad Herrenalb, Frauenalb and Marxzell. There it takes the waters of the Maisenbach creek as a right tributary. The river Moosalb is a left tributary at Fischweier on the border between the municipalities of Marxzell and Karlsbad. Near Busenbach the Alb turns to the northwest. Out of Ettlingen, the Alb leaves the Black Forest and reaches the Upper Rhine Plain. After flowing through Ettlingen it turns north again. Landkreis Rastatt
Rastatt is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in the west of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Neighbouring districts are (from north clockwise) Karlsruhe, Calw, Freudenstadt and the Ortenaukreis. To the west it borders the French ''département'' Bas-Rhin. Rastatt completely surrounds the district-free city Baden-Baden. History The district was created in 1939 as the successor of the ''Oberamt Rastatt'' and later the ''Großkreis Baden''. Karlsruhe is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in the northwest of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise) Rhein-Neckar, Heilbronn, Enz, Calw, Rastatt, Germersheim, Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis and the district-free city Speyer. Bundesstraße 10
The Bundesstraße 10 (abbr. B10) is a German federal highway. It leads from Eppelborn, near the city of Lebach in Saarland, eastward to Neusäß near Augsburg in Bavaria. The Bundesautobahn 8 mostly runs in parallel to the Bundesstraße 10. After a very short strip near Eppelborn leading to the Bundesautobahn 1, the road continues at Pirmasens. Because the construction of the A 8 through the Pfälzerwald never commenced, the Bundesstraße 10 has to carry the east-west traffic, though plans to upgrade the road to four lanes are underway. At Landau, the Bundesautobahn 65 replaces the Bundesstraße 10 up to the city of Wörth am Rhein, from where it continues to Karlsruhe, crossing the river Rhine, through Pforzheim, the city of Stuttgart, Göppingen, Ulm up to Neusäß, shortly before the city of Augsburg.
