Favus Of Pannonhalma
Favus (died 1265) was a Hungarian clergyman in the 13th century, who served as Pannonhalma Archabbey, Abbot of Pannonhalma from 1252 until his death. Abbot of Pécsvárad His origins, early life and career, his studies are unknown. Prior to the papal confirmation of his election as superior of the Pannonhalma Abbey in 1252, Favus served as the abbot of Pécsvárad Abbey for an unknown period of time. It is possible he already held the position during the first Mongol invasion of Hungary, which occurred in 1241–1242. The monastery of Pécsvárad was attacked and looted by the Mongols too around February or March 1242. Following the withdrawal of the Mongols, Favus ordered to reconstruct and fortify the building complex of the Pécsvárad Abbey. Pannonhalma Archabbey
The Benedictine Pannonhalma Archabbey or Territorial Abbey of Pannonhalma (lat. ''Archiabbatia'' or ''Abbatia Territorialis Sancti Martini in Monte Pannoniae'') is a medieval building in Pannonhalma, one of the oldest historical monuments in Hungary. Founded in 996, it is located near the town, on top of a hill (282 m). Saint Martin of Tours is believed to have been born at the foot of this hill, hence its former name, Mount of Saint Martin ( hu, Márton-hegy), from which the monastery occasionally took the alternative name of Márton-hegyi Apátság. This is the second largest territorial abbey in the world, after the one in Monte Cassino. Its sights include the Basilica with the Crypt (built in the 13th century), the Cloisters, the monumental Library with 360,000 volumes, the Baroque Refectory (with several examples of ''trompe-l'œil'') and the Archabbey Collection (the second biggest in the country). Szigliget
Szigliget is a village in Veszprém county, Hungary. Settings The village can be found on the northern bank of Lake Balaton in the vicinity of Badacsony and Keszthely. The village was built between and on volcanic hills. It can be reached by car on the 71 highway or by train on the Székesfehérvár–Tapolca-railway stopping at Badacsonytördemic-Szigliget station. Küszén Abbey
The Küszén Abbey was a short-lived Benedictine Christian monastery on the top of the mountain Küszén in the medieval Kingdom of Hungary (today Burgenland, Austria). The monastery was established by German-born knight Wolfer, forefather of the powerful Kőszegi family. It was subordinated to the Pannonhalma Archabbey. After a few decades of operation, Béla III of Hungary confiscated the monastery from the Benedictine friars and erected a castle in place of the abbey around 1180. Establishment Brothers Wolfer and Héder arrived to the Kingdom of Hungary during the reign of Géza II of Hungary. Wolfer was granted lands beyond the Austrian border, most of his estates laid in the valley of stream Strém (or Strem) and centered around the hill of Küszén. Dunajská Lužná ( hu, Dénesdtorcsmisérd) is a municipality (village) in the Bratislava Region of western Slovakia in Senec District. Balatonlelle
Balatonlelle is a resort town located in Hungary on the southern shore of Lake Balaton, about 35 km west of Siófok. It is known for its numerous tourist attractions, some of those being a 3 km long beach, an aqua park, a go-cart course, and an annual wine festival. It is reachable from Budapest by train (approximately 2.5 hours). It is a family-oriented tourist resort during the summer season.
