Farroupilha Park
Farroupilha Park (''Parque Farroupilha'' in Portuguese), also known as ''Parque da Redenção'', is a major urban park in the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil. The park was designed by French architect Alfred Agache and founded on September 19, 1935. Near to the '' Centro Histórico'' (Historic Centre), Farroupilha Park is located within a polygon formed by José Bonifácio, João Pessoa, Luiz Englert, Setembrina and Osvaldo Aranha Avenues. History The site where the park is located was formerly called ''Várzea do Portão'', a large flooded lowlands close to the old gate to Porto Alegre.
