Farid Rastagar
Farid Rastagar ( fa, فريد رستگار)(born 26 March 1963) is from Panjshir Province, Panjshir, a singer, music arranger, and composer. He is one of the 1980s era singers who rose to popularity as Afghanistan’s pop music was reaching its zenith of maturity. His early albums became highly successful due to the keen detail he gave to the background music all of which he arranged, composed and sang himself. Currently, he continues producing his music from Hamburg, Germany, his home since he emigrated from Afghanistan, often performing in various cities in Europe. His wife Wajiha Rastagar and his daughter Hadya Rastagar are also singers. He belongs to the Panjsher Valley of Afghanistan. Panjshir Province
Panjshir (Dari: , literally "Five Lions," also spelled as Panjsher) is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan, located in the northeastern part of the country containing the Panjshir Valley. The province is divided into seven districts and contains 512 villages. As of 2021, the population of Panjshir province was about 173,000. Bazarak serves as the provincial capital. Panjshir became an independent province from neighboring Parwan Province in 2004. Wajiha Rastagar
Wajiha Rastagar (Persian:وجيهه رستگار) born 12 May 1967, is a singer from Afghanistan. She is wife to fellow singer and composer Farid Rastagar. She sings in Persian and Pashto, She currently lives in Germany along with her husband & children, and she continues her career from there. Wajiha Rastagar was a student of primary school when she participated in the school’s cultural programmes. In the mid 1980s she and her band experimented with Synthesizers and therefore the sound of her music at that time had a lot of influence of British and American new wave bands like A flock of seagulls or Missing Persons. She married Farid Rastagar, who was the music arranger and singer in GULI SURKH. Wajiha Rastagar has been singing a number of Afghanistan’s songs among which range some Afghani folksongs. Hadya Rastagar
The Hadiya Sultanate (r. ~13th century – 15th century) was a medieval kingdom located in southwestern Ethiopia, south of the Abbay River and west of Shewa. It was ruled by the Hadiya people, who spoke the Cushitic Hadiyya language. The historical Hadiya area was situated between Kambaata, Gamo and Wej, southwest of Shewa. By 1850, Hadiya is placed north-west of lakes Zway and Langano but still between these areas. Hadiya was historically a vassal state of the Adal federation. The Hadiya Kingdom was described in the mid-fourteenth century by the Arab historian Chihab Al-Umari as measuring eight days' journey by nine, which Richard Pankhurst estimates was 160 by 180 kilometers.
