Fanny (band)
Fanny was an American rock band, active in the early to mid 1970s. They were one of the first all-female rock groups to achieve critical and commercial success, including two ''Billboard'' Hot 100 Top 40 singles. The group was founded by guitarist June Millington and her sister, bassist Jean, who had been playing music together since they moved from the Philippines to California in the early 1960s. After playing through several variations of the band, they attracted the interest of producer Richard Perry who signed them to Reprise Records in 1969 as Fanny. The band recorded four albums together before June Millington quit the group, leading to the original line-up splitting. Following a final album, Fanny disbanded in 1975. The Millington sisters have continued to play music together since the split, and with a former drummer, Brie Howard-Darling, formed the spin-off group Fanny Walked the Earth in 2018. ''Fanny'' is a 1961 American Technicolor romantic drama film directed by Joshua Logan. The screenplay by Julius J. Epstein is based on the book for the 1954 stage musical of the same title by Logan and S.N. Behrman, which in turn had been adapted from Marcel Pagnol's trilogy. Pagnol wrote two plays, '' Marius'' (1929) and '' Fanny'' (1931) and completed the cycle by writing and directing a film, '' César'', in 1936. ''Fanny'' is the debut album by the American Rock music, rock group Fanny (band), Fanny, released in December 1970 on Reprise Records, Reprise. Background In 1969, the rock band Wild Honey, featuring sisters Jean and June Millington, bass and guitar, respectively, and drummer Alice de Buhr, were spotted by producer Richard Perry's secretary. Perry arranged a trial session at Wally Heider Studios and concluded, "This is a band that needs to be recorded." The group added keyboardist and singer Nickey Barclay and began recording in early 1970, renaming themselves Fanny. Fanny Jacques-André-Coquin better known as Fanny J (born in Cayenne in French Guiana on 6 October 1987) is a French singer of zouk and contemporary R&B. Fanny's Restaurant was a notable eatery located at 1601 Simpson Street Evanston, IL 60201 USA (the first suburb north of the Chicago City Limits) between 1946 and 1987. It was an anomaly in that it was located in a working-class neighborhood and yet known the world over. Patrons included the Marshall Field Family, of department store fame. Both the salad dressing and meat sauce won the International Epicurian Award of France. It was cited by Chicago Magazine as one of the top 40 Chicago restaurants ever. Exxxotica Expo is an American annual three-day adult-themed event produced by 3XEvents. First held in 2006, Exxxotica has featured some of the most recognized names in the adult industry, including Jenna Jameson, Tera Patrick and Katie Morgan.
