Falling Out Into The Night
''Falling Out into the Night'' is an EP by Mark Gardener and Goldrush, released in November 2003 on Truck Records. The EP followed on the heels of a number of live performances that featured the members of Goldrush as Mark Gardener's backing band. The EP includes the Gardener-penned song "Snow in Mexico", on which he is backed by Goldrush, and the Goldrush song "Out of Reach". The third track on the EP is a cover of the song "Dreams Burn Down", featuring Gardener and Goldrush together equally. "Dreams Burn Down" had originally been released by Gardener's earlier band Ride in 1990. The first track on the EP, "Snow in Mexico", was included on Mark Gardener's debut solo album, ''These Beautiful Ghosts''. During an interview for the Bucks Music Group website, Gardener stated that "Snow in Mexico" was inspired by a newspaper headline and is essentially about "how people can blow hot and cold, be one way one minute and then completely different, the next." Mark Gardener
Mark Stephen Gardener (born 6 December 1969, in Oxford, England) is an English rock musician, and a singer and guitarist with the shoegazing band Ride. Ride Gardener formed Ride with Andy Bell (guitar), whom he met at Cheney School in Oxford, and Laurence Colbert (drummer) and Steve Queralt (bass guitarist), whom he met doing Foundation Studies in Art and Design at Banbury in 1988. While still at Banbury the band produced a tape demo including the tracks "Chelsea Girl" and "Drive Blind". In February 1989 "Ride" were asked to stand in for a cancelled student union gig at Oxford Polytechnic that brought them to the attention of Alan McGee. After supporting The Soup Dragons in 1989, McGee signed them to Creation Records. With Ride, Gardener released three EPs between January and September 1990, entitled ''Ride'', ''Play'' and ''Fall''. Goldrush (band)
Goldrush were a rock band from Oxfordshire, England. Their music has been compared to Nick Drake, The Byrds, The Flaming Lips and Grandaddy. The band centres on brothers Robin (vocals, guitar) and Joe (keyboards, guitar, vocals) Bennett. The other members are Garo (lead guitar), Growler (bass) and Graham Roby (drums). Original bassist Jef Clayton left the band in 2003. History Goldrush were formed in the late 1990s under the name Whispering Bob, after the DJ "Whispering" Bob Harris, who frontman Robin once served while working in the local SPAR shop. After releasing the mini album ''Another Fine Mess'' on their own Truck Records label, they changed their name to Goldrush, and soon after were signed to Virgin Records. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Truck Records
Truck Festival is an annual independent music festival in Oxfordshire, England. It was started in 1998 by the Bennett family (including the brothers Robin and Joe of the band Goldrush), who decided that mainstream festivals such as Glastonbury had become too commercial and predictable, however since 2012 it was sold off and is now more commercial. It is held in July at Hill Farm in Steventon, which lies between Abingdon, Didcot and Wantage. The festival also gave birth to the Truck Records label in 1999. The main stage was originally constructed from three large flatbed trucks, and a common misperception is that this is where the name of the festival comes from. However, in 2007 Robin Bennett wrote on the official Truck website: "Contrary to popular belief, the name Truck actually came from a compilation CD I picked up, 'Ten Trucking Greats', the soundtrack of the movie ''Convoy''." During the 1950s, several American musical groups experimented with new musical forms that fused country music, blues, and swing genre to produce the earliest examples of "rock and roll." Ride is an English rock band formed in Oxford in 1988. The band consists of vocalists and guitarists Andy Bell and Mark Gardener, drummer Laurence "Loz" Colbert and bassist Steve Queralt. They are recognised as one of the key pioneers of shoegaze, an alternative rock subgenre that emerged to prominence in the United Kingdom during the early 1990s. Andrew Piran Bell (born 11 August 1970) is a Welsh singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, and DJ. He is one of two vocalists and guitarists of the English rock band Ride, and was formerly the bassist of Oasis from 1999 until their breakup in 2009. Bell was also a member of Hurricane #1 as well as Liam Gallagher's post-Oasis project Beady Eye until their breakup in 2014. Loz Colbert
Laurence John "Loz" Colbert (born 27 June 1970) is an English musician, best known as the drummer in Ride and formerly of The Animalhouse, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Supergrass and Gaz Coombes. His drumming style has been characterized as furious drawing comparisons to Keith Moon. Early life Colbert was born in Kingston, England and grew up in the Cotswolds.
